| No bark collars?? What do you think of them? I'm not looking for answers like ''Don't use them they hurt the dog'' or anything like that, this is a last effort for a dog I know of, this is NOT for my dog. Those who have used these kind of collars, with either shock or an anoying sound, how did they work? Did they maby just make the dog scared or what? This dog I'm talking about he barks constantly outside the house, because of nothing, he has gone to the vet, nothing is wrong with him, everything has been tried when it comes to training about the barking, nothing seems to work.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | My neighbor had a similar problem, her Westie, barked constantly specially when my silky pack was out in the yard, even tho we have a wood fence between us, my son recomended a citronella spray collar, for when he was in the yard, she said that the collar spray Rufus twice, and he stop barking, she still puts the collar on him when he goes out on walks and in the yard, but is EMPTY, LOL , he learned right away that is a smelly concecuence is he barks, she gave my son a nice bottle of his favorite wine, she said that he's been barking like that since he was a a year old and drove her crazy..LOL I know the collars are a bit expensive but worth every penny. And they are more humane that the shocking ones. hugs, |

| I know a lot of people that have had success with the citronella collars. Personally, I just got a pet corrector bottle that I spray when Geno acts up. It's basically a can of compressed air that makes a loud hissing sound. He HATES it. Now I just say "Pet Corrector" and Geno immediately is at attention and ready to follow any command I give him, which is nice cause now I don't have to worry about actually having the spray bottle on me. Last night, Geno and his sister were acting up while I was trying to fall asleep. I just sternly said "Pet Corrector" and Geno looked at me, and I told him lay down on your bed. Down on his pet bed he went...our little girl though doesn't have the same effect. She still tried playing around so I had to pick her up and calm her down a bit but for Geno, it works wonders Geno is only 4lbs so I am very hesitant to put a collar like that on him. Now that we found out he has the onset of CT, I'm glad I didn't. I was looking into getting a vibrating collar which has a similar effect of a shock collar but it doesn't hurt them. If your dog is a little bigger, like 8lbs+, I'd look into one of those as a possible alternative to the citronella collar. The vibrating collar is also good to train with so you could use it for barking and other things as well.

| Thank you for the answers ! I'l reccomand those cintronella collars to the owner They cost about 300$ where we live, I'm gonna try finding them on ebay. The owner has tried pet corrector, it works, BUT when the dog is outside he barks constantly ! The door at the dogs home is most often just open so he can go out as he likes, he isn't good at showing signs to have to pee/poo, and they live in a small house too so it isn't possible to keep him always inside or always be outside with him, the owner always has an eye on him though, in the window or in the doorstep. Witch would you think is better?? - A collar that gives first a high pitch sound that the dog hates, first the sound comes, than a little shock but not much, only a little, if the dog barks more the shock will become a little bit more each time. - A collar that has only that high pitch sound ?

| OK .... be careful here because many of these collars work on the ... giving the dog a shock principle to stop them from barking whether it is an actually electric shock or a loud noise ...they can be stressful or even abusive to the dog There are tried and true ways to stop barking and there is even a sticky post on the subject here in the forum I have a barker myself ....and Yorkies in general are vocal dogs they tend to be barkers What I did and it takes some time .... is never allow you dog to continue barking when they get into that barking jag it's hard to get them out of it Whether you clap your hands .... yell stop... or No Bark make sure they stop and look at you You can even use a water pistol if that works.... but be careful I tried that and it scared the hell out of my dog but be wary of the collar thing many of them are not good for dogs

| Have you ever tried the Dazer II - the ultrasonic, handheld sound device that will stop some dogs from barking? It sure helped with my neighbor's dogs while she was training them not to bark after complaints. If I use it now, they run the other way, to the other side of the yard. My son sometimes uses it when he walks into an area with runs of barking dogs where he works - says it usually stops them all immediately! You can't overuse it or it doesn't work but it sure can work with some dogs to help a lot.

| I use the citronella collar for Giorgio. I haven't used it much since we moved but last year I got one because he was keeping all of us awake and the husband and I get up for work at 4 in the morning. When he gets out of sorts I say " collar". He gets quiet real quick. |

| Doesn't the fur get sticky with the citronella collar? One woman I know used a citronella collar for 1-2 years for her Papillon it never worked ! At first it works but then she learned to bend her head from the citronella spray when she barked.

| The owner bought a collar that gives a sonic sound and also shock, that has stages. So far the dog has stopped always when only the sonic sound comes, he isn't scared of it, its more like he's just saying ''What weird sound is that?'' stops barking and looks like he's really thinking poor guy. So far it works!

| Vibration collars are effective. The ones that actually vibrate NOT shock collars called vibration collars. I have found sonic sound collars are effective but not if you have multiple dogs or pets. I don't like citronella collars I think they are cruel. Shock or static collar well here you go, ''Don't use them they hurt the dog''
