| First time yorkie owner need help! I have a 4 month old yorkie male and I have some questions. First off do they have really sensitive skin? He acts like he is itchy when u pet him he nibbles or kicks like he itches and attacks when u rub him with a towel or try to brush him...... Also I am having trouble with biting and potty traing.... Any advice on shampoo grooming potty training would be very much appreciated. |

| hi and welcome.. i guess some yorkies do have sensitive skin.. you could try an anti itch oatmeal shampoo.. itching could sometimes be related to diet and/or allergies.. sometimes a high quality grain free diet helps.. all yorkies are different when it comes to potty training. my oscar was very stubborn about it.. he is now 1 year old and finally uses his litterbox 100%. potty training just takes lots of patience and time... |

| Sounds like a typical puppy to me...always wanting to play etc!!! My pups have some sensitive areas on the side that when I pet, rub or comb they go into a reflexive itch...I think thats where their ticklish!!! Each time your pup uses teeth for play etc., immediately stop what your doing and say NO BITE loudly and firmly, please never swat their noses this does not help... When Mia was younger she did this frequently, I would do this and if it continued I put her in her xpen...now she still tries on occasion but immediately stops when I say NICE... Soon you will know your pup inside and out and you will get comfortable with your "parenting skills"! Puppies are a handful stay on top of it and give them lots of love and cuddling...!!! Have fun!

| I rescued a 10 month old Yorkie recently who had terribly dry and itchy skin especially near his tail. I found a medicated conditioning shampoo to bathe him with and I don't over bathe him either and this has seemed to work. I do this once a month or when he gets very smelly Over praising and rewarding when they do go outside to pee has worked wonders for me and Louie. Although he is still having the odd "accident" indoors he knows that if he goes outside he will get good praise and a chocolate drop The main thing is to be patient and keep up with the training they are a very strong minded breed, this is my second Yorkie |
