| 3 YO Yorkie and 9 week old Baby My yorkie was my baby until I was surprised by an unexpected pregnancy. My baby is now 9 weeks old and my yorkie is not happy! My yorkie, who was totally potty trained, has been peeing and pooping in the house. I'm sure it's out of spite and nothing I do can keep her from doing it. I have given her treats when she goes out, I have given her extra attention but she's still very jealous of the new baby. What do I do? |

| Oh, poor baby, she is obviously acting out because she is jealous and has to share you. I know you've said you give her extra attention already. When your hubby is home, have him also give extra attention when you are with the baby & vice versa. She just needs to know she's not forgotten and is still an important member of the family. It's normal for you to be very attentive to the baby and she's really not acting much different than an older sibling would when some competition for your affection comes home. Bring her some new toys, love on her a little extra when ever possible, and still give her some one on one time, just like you would an older sibling. The pottying in the house is probably stress on her part or it could be marking her territory. Let her know it's not acceptable, much as you did when you house broke her when she was a puppy. I think she really needs your love now more than ever because her little world is changing and she needs to feel secure again so that she can accept the baby.
