| I'm having a hard time training Rocky to use the Pads, help. I really have a hard time with my 12 month Yorkie named Rocky pad training him. He's been doing his business on the floor a lot and it's very rare he does it on the pad. I'm currently pad training him and I would like to get tips. I don't have a crate, but I have a pen, though the pen is small, but not confined space, he still about to move around just a tiny little. It's a triangle shape with 2by2by2foot. My days with him are 8am wake up, sometime potty on my room floor already or rarely goes on the pad when I wakes up. He done it already I would bring him to the pad and sat with him for half an hour, making sure he never leave the pad. He only did it a few times. Most of the time he would sit there on the pad. after that feeding around 08:00-9:00. 09:30-10:00pad time. 10:00-13:00 I will be busy out the house and I would come home with potty in his pen area. I still bring him to the pad, sat there for 15minutes, and he still would sit there. random minutes or hours later he done his business on the floor 15:00 pad time, I repeatably placing him on the pad for 30minutes. Few minutes later we left, does his business on the floor. 19:00-20:00 feeding time. 21:00 pad time. During time rest of the time he hangs out with me on my bed or on the couch watching tv. Any help here? Why hes choose not to do it on the pad? |

I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH MY YORKIE BOY OSCAR. HE REFUSED TO USE POTTY PADS. WENT EVERYWHERE BUT THE PADS TILL HE WAS ABOUT 5 MONTHS OLD. I THEN GOT A LARGE EX-PEN AND SECTIONED OFF PART OF MY LIVING ROOM . I DECIDED TO TRY A LITTER BOX WITH HIGH SIDES ( ON 3 SIDES) CAUSE HE LIKES TO HIKE HIS LEG. I BOUGHT THE www.rascaldoglitterbox.com WHICH USES A GRATE SYSTEM. WITHIN 2 WEEKS HE WAS USING IT 100% AND NOW HAS FREE RUN OF THE HOUSE. | |

| This isn't great feedback, but Thisbe was the same way for a while! Consistency worked for me. Just keep him on his schedule, and he will learn. Now, she could be anywhere in the house and will seek out her pad from a mile away to potty on it. Also, everytime I saw her go on the pad, I praised her like it was the best thing she ever did. Praise while he's going, so he knows that's what he's being praised for. I read that somewhere, and it worked like a charm. Potty training was basically a breeze for me. |
