Tubby does that too. When he bites my finger, I say "NO! BAD PUPPY" then ignore him for a while until he knows he did something bad. Or just get her a chew toy, she might be teething or changing teeth. =P As for the nose biting, when you see her staring at you get ready to dogde it. Then said "NO!" and put her down and ignore her again. This worked out pretty well for me. He doesn't chew on my fingers as much as he use too, and only biting my nose once so far................. Good Luck!!!! =D

| Mike posted a great link. Biting is completely unacceptable, in your face is a step even beyond. What's happening prior to this? Is your pup being overstimulated? Is the pup giving you ques he wants to be put down? What's leading up to the biting?

Teaching bite inhibition is one of the requirements for getting your puppy certified as a therapy dog. I have been working on this with Kipper and he is doing much better. He also bit and would get quite evil at night, just before bed. I tried everything and nothing worked until my husband acted like a wounded puppy and I noticed that Kipper would stop biting and look worriedly at him. Although he would simply resume his biting once the yelping stopped, it was a start. Now, I apply a firm pressure under his jaw, gently causing his head to go up and he stops biting. At the same time, I tell him in a soft, but firm voice, "no biting!" Either he is getting past the age of his intense teething and biting issues, or this is really working well for us. When I go to the puppy orientation for therapy dogs next month, they will also teach and test the puppies for bite inhibition. I hope Kipper will pass! Thank you all for your suggestions. They have encouraged me.

My sweet Thisbe does this as well. She loves to gnaw fingers! She does it softly, like she's just gumming. I tried to act like a hurt puppy, yelped, scolded, and she watched me with an expression of, "I didn't want to hurt you!!" But after a few moments, she pounced and went right back to gnawing! Kind of funny.

My Chewie has the exact same problem, right from the moment we got him, hence his name Most times it doesnt hurt at all when he bites, but he has a habit of pinching tiny bits of your skin as hard as he can, whether it is the top of your foot or a toe, or arms, fingers, lol pretty much any thing he can get his mouth on. What I have found is his biting generally stems from boredom; trying to get my attention so I will play with him. I redirect his bites from me to a chew toy, or take him for a walk. Tell him OUCH, and gently push him away. If he comes back, continue to push him away, no matter how frustrating it gets and how stubborn he is. He will get the point eventually
