How do I train her to poop in a certain spot Emy is doing pretty good with peeing on her pee pads now, but from what I have read on here, they don't like to pee and poop in the same area. She won't poop on her pee pads, she poops on the kitchen floor or outside if its daylight (I won't go outside in the dark, no fenced in yard, too many coyotes and racoons prowling around). With winter approaching, I'm not going to go outside if its 10 degrees or lower with her. What should I get for her to poop on inside, so she can have her pee pads for pee and something for her poop. Does anyone use two different things...?

Kipper, at 19 weeks old, faithfully runs through the house to use his pee pads for both pee and poop unless they are too used. Then, he will poop by an outside door...or what he thinks is a door to the outside. It has rarely happened and when it did, I quickly cleaned it up and disinfected the area so he wouldn't be encouraged to repeat it. He never has. Depending on the age of your Emy, I would imagine that she would soon get the idea. It isn't something I have any expertise in, as this is my first tiny dog and all my others were crate trained and then outside. I love not having to go outside and deal with the wild critters, cold, rain, etc. I wish you success!

Emy is 19 weeks also, I've tried putting the pee pads by the door and some at another spot for her peeing, but so far, she just walks over it and goes to a spot on the linoleum, trouble is she is a traveling pooper...so she drops about 6 little ones for me, while I am frantically picking it up and spraying floor...LOL

The next best thing I have tried with my other puppies (all larger than Yorkie) is crate training and taking the puppy to the spot you wish them to use and saying, "go pee pee," or whatever, when you first let her out. Then, praising the puppy when she does it there. I immediately flush the poops, but I leave the pee pads down until he has about 7 pee pees (his typical amount for a day) on the two small pee pads I use (got them at a garage sale and will get larger ones when I have to buy them from the store). We actually let our puppy choose the spot he wanted to poop on, and put the pee pads there, gradually moving them outside to the back porch (still enclosed, but in an area out of the pathway, etc). He has made the transition well. I would not let Kipper have free run of the house until he proved he would reliably run for his pee pads when he had to go. It sounds like your Emy is still pretty immature about knowing when she has to go, hence the pooping on the run. Kipper always ran circles before he had to go and he also squats when he needs to pee, so it was pretty easy for me to tell what he had in mind. Be patient. I am sure Emy will soon get the idea. I am happy we have puppies the same age. Perhaps we can share more of similar situations as they get older and go through the puppy stage.

yes, her poop is pretty regular about 3x a day, so luckily I know about what time to start taking her out, but the one first thing in the morning is the one that is getting me, she wakes me up at 4:30 am and she sits by the door, after she has peed on her pee pads, I know she has to poop, but I'm not going to go outside, cause its still dark, so I watch her and she starts to sniff around the kitchen floor and I pick her up and keep putting her on her pee pads and say "go potty" but she just walks off them, when I see her start to poop I have picked her up in mid poop and put her down on her pee pad, that didn't work, it just interupted her pooping and she didn't finish. I'll keep at it, she does want to go outside to poop I think..and I can oblige her in the daylight hours, just not in the dark. She also doesn't have free roam, she has only been in the kitchen and the front entry both of which are babygated with peepads in them and her crates. Such work...love her so much though!

We had a female pomeranian who was 2 years old before she stopped peeing in the house. My daughter was frantic, but after that, she never did it again. She would pee on my daughter's bed while she slept. I was getting pretty disgusted, thinking it was my daughter's fault for not waking up when the dog had to pee. Now I realize (many years after the fact) that it was probably just a developmental thing and all dogs are different. I know you will figure out what to do for Emy. Love is a wonderful motivator to keep working at it, even when it gets rough.
