| X-Pen How Tall? I bought a great crate for my lil girl and am looking for an X-Pen to go with it. Her crate is 18 inches tall and hubby thinks that 18 inches will be plenty tall for the pen. I am thinking the 24 is good... Are we both wrong?? She is expected to top out at 3 to 4 lbs, but if she reaches 5 will 24 be tall enough??? Should I go higher? I am wanting this to be a life long pen, one we can use even when she is an adult. How tall are your pens? Any tips to a gal out shopping for an X-Pen?? Thanks in advance for your help!

| My male Yorkie is almost eight pounds. We have a 24" X-pen and it works great. He can jump very high and he's never been able to go over it. We LOVE it and use it much more than we ever thought we would. |

| I was thinking that it will come in handy at parties and outtings to the park, hotel visits, or anytime that I need her "contained" I am going to crate train her, but there are plenty of times that I will want her "contained" but not in her crate. If she really is smaller do you think the 18 inch would work? It looks real nice and is very easy for us to step over, but will it also be easy for her to jump? I am leaning towards the 24, but hubby is all about the 18.... I am surely going to make him read this thread. : )

| I just bought a brand new ex pen on ebay. My puppy is supposed to be under 5lbs, so I went ahead a bought the 24in one just to be safe. The ex pen I bought was a great deal for $33.00 plus shipping. It is also black metal which I really liked. I would check ebay if you are comfortable with internet shopping Hope this helps! |

| Black is great! I bought the black crate from Precision... It has the divider for when she is still small so I can block off part of the crate. I don't want her to have so much room in it that she can go on one side and stay dry on the other. Ebay.... hmmm, I shop plenty there, I will check it out!

| Harley's is 36 inches high but he's a really good jumper so he needs it to be that tall. But I've heard of many a yorkies being great climbers too.

| Those babies can be great climbers. If you plan to use it at the park or where there will be starnge dogs- get one tall enough that a stange dog can not reach over the top and get your baby. Went to a dog show not long ago and a man brought his Rottie and would take it over to x-pens and let the dog lean over and growl at dogs. Really ticked me off. My x-pens are in various sizes I have some that are 48 inches high. Good luck sticking your head over that and getting close to my kids. |
