| Was doing well, now accidents again... My pup is almost 10 months old and has (was) pad trained. Took almost 6 months for him to stop having accidents but it seemed like he finally got the hang of it. We used an expen to train him and he was doing really great, however for the past month he has been having an accident about 1-3x a week. He is on a regular schedule, gets fed before we leave for work around 7am, goes in his pen until 3:30, and gets fed again around 5:30-6. He RARELY goes to the bathroom in is pen and goes straight to his pad when we let him out. A few of the accidents where my own fault because I did not change the pad and doesn't like to step in his urine. But for the majority of them I just don't get. For example I was just checking my mail, walk into the living room and he pooped on the rug. He even ran upstairs to hide, so it seems like he knows what did was wrong. Was it because I wasn't paying attention to him and he did it out of spite? Just trying to figure this out cause I love him to pieces, but it is stressful wondering what he is going to do every second he is out of my site. I thought we had the whole housebreaking thing down.... Would appreciate any helpful advice! |

| Start over. Sometimes puppies regress. Has there been any changes to the household or your routine? That can throw them off too. Though, At 10 months, he's still learning. If you go back to the basics like you did before, he should catch back on rather quickly. |

There really hasn't been any changes. He pooped on the guest bed a few months back after a friend slept over. We put a pad up stairs to which he quickly favored over the one downstairs. However a few times we shut the door by accident and he went on the rug in front of the door instead. Seems like ever since my friend stayed over the random accidents started to happen. At first I attributed to my own mistakes, like shutting a door or not cleaning the pad fast enough. But like I said, recently I can't find a reason for any of it. So far all we have done is gated the stairs preventing him from going up, but we still get those random accidents. | |

| Ugh...Okay I wake up, take him out of his crate and bring him right to his pad. He immediately runs off into the living room and starts to pee. I could not get to him fast enough so he did pee a little on the carpet. I told him no, brought him over to his pad and he finished peeing. He also then pooped. Praised and gave him treats. I then put his harness and leash on and he has been moping around the house around me. Getting very frustrated, maybe I should attempt to train him outside. He can hold it while we are at work anyway, just don't know what to do. |
