| Hyper Yorkie Hi there, Havn`t been in touch for long time but so pleased you are still here!! My 3 year old yorkie is just sooooo hyper that it`s unbelievable. He was castrated at 7 months & wasn`t too bad then but over the last 12 to 18 months he has become really bad. He shows aggression to most dogs when he encounters them on his walks, he goes absolutely crazy when any of the family arrive at our home like leaping up to waist hieght , squeeling & yapping barking, this continues for 30 minutes or more. The only option i have is to put him in his cage but he still carrys on crying. May i just say that Toby seemed to start this behaviour after he went missing for 2 hours on bonfire night 2010. He also had a bad electric shock & our older yorkie passed away all three things happened within 3 weeks of each other. Toby is also a bad traveller in the car, cries.sick etc tried all sorts of things does anyone have any suggestions as to giving him some sort of safe calmers!! |

| He doesn't need calmers , he needs training. |

| While I definately agree with needing training, I have friends who use Rescue Remedy for their dogs (the humans in our house use it too ), and thunder shirts. Did the vet check him after he got shocked?

| I'd have your vet examine him thoroughly since he had that electrical shock. If the vet doesn't find a medical reason then training is definitely the route to go.

| many thanks for your reply but the vet did give toby a thorough check up after the electric shock & said he was ok, he had a burnt mouth but no other obvious problems. I`m seriously considering thunder shirt or rescue remedy. thanks again tobys mum |

| I would recommend doggy school after a check by the vet. We do not have the same dog after doggie school, worked like a charm. |
