| Please help!! Potty training forgotten? Please help me out guys! My pup is about 6 months old, up until now he has been a very good boy with going on his pads. He even started going potty outside on his own if we kept the side door open. All of the sudden, its like he's completely forgotten what he's learned. He pee's WHERE EVER he wants. I can never catch him either i just end up stepping in it. I read it's not good to punish them if you don't catch them in the act... I don't know what to do. He doesn't use his pads at all so i cant reward him for that. He never goes potty if someone is in the room but hes always wondering around the house so it's not like i can follow him every time he leaves the room. Could his disobedience be from his age? He's getting neutered within the next couple weeks will this change any of his potty habits? Will it make it better or worst? |

hi , i went thru this with my boy who is also 6 months old. You are right, never punish for going potty on the floor. This will only scare him. What i did was put an x-pen in my living room , he has his litterbox and some toys and his water dish. I kept putting him in his box and said go potty if he actually did i said good boy and gave him a treat. It took awhile and a lot of treats but he finally got it. Now he uses it 100 %. For now he is still in the x pen. If your boy was using his pads then he already knows but for whatever reason has strayed from the pads so will need to confine him to an x-pen till he goes back to the pads. I don't if having him nuetered will make him use the potty pads more easily but it certainly won't make it worse. Good luck.. | |
