NEW PUPPY---Not Walking or being sociable

I got my puppy on Friday she is 11 weeks 5 days. However she won't walk anywhere or being sociable, she just lays there. She is eating not drinking water too much!! Is it normal for her to be so unsocial could she be stressed out from being away from her mother & litter mates???? Any insight??

Have you had your baby checked out by a vet,to make sure that she is healthy? You need to make sure that she is eating and drinking. You do not want her bloodsugar to fall to low. White Karo syrup or Nutra-cal can be offered on your finger,just a tiny bit. Yes,she could be a depressed and need to be held and loved on. Sometimes it is hard to get them to eat or drink while they are adjusting to a new home.
I hope that someone with more experience than me will have some more advice for you.

Ive been doing the karo & nutrical. She goes to the vet on Tuesday, hopefully all will be well!! Keep you posted! Thanks for you advice & Ill def give some extra loving!! THANKS

Depending on how well that baby was socialized before you got her, she could be going through the adjustment phase. Did your breeder have it in her contract that you should take the baby to a vet for her initial health check with in 24-48 hours? Did she have a vet visit on Saturday to be sure your baby is healthy? If we know she is healthy, then it is just adjustment she is going thru....you may have a timid little girl that is lost and confused about where she is and where everything she is familiar with, has gone. You need to cuddle and hold and love on her continously, until she gets past the fright and anxiety she is having at the time. It is not uncommon for them to not eat immediately afyer going to their new home....your breeder should have told you what she is on, and you offer that to her....I encourage my new parents to free feed until they get adjusted to their new home...that way, they can sneak a bite now and then, as they get more comfortable. You can also offer her baby food...chicken....on your4 finger...if she wont likck it off your finger, you need to put a little on her tongue, in her mouth, to get her interested..... You want bottled water or distilled water....your tap water smells different than the tap water where she came from, and she may not like what she is smelling, so she wont be having any part of that! Besides you DO NOT WANT HER TO GET DIARRHEA from different water!These babies can drop like a rock and go down soooooo fast....you can not let her go 3 days without eating or drinking water! Today is Sunday...if she has not eaten or at least had fluid to drink, you need to be sitting in a vet office / emergency clinic! Contact your breeder...tell her what is going on...if she is worth the sweat off her brow as a breeder, she is concerned about her baby! I email or call my new owners at least twice a day for the first 4 days, then daily for the next 4 days, then weekly for a week or so...that s, if there is NO problems! If there are any issues or concerns, I am right in the middle of it with the new owner! They are NEVER left to their own devices with a new baby of mine!

Karo and Nutri-cal are basically the same thing corn syrup which is sugar. It treats hypoglycemia because it enters the blood stream fast. Problem is if you give too much you can bring on hypoglycemia. Must pups should never even need this, however, puppies use their energy reserves very quickly, so food and water should be available at all times, and this will help prevent hypoglycemia. If they already have hypoglycemia, a little karo or nutri-cal can treat it, but it shouldn’t need be given daily, that’s way too much. Even handling a puppy can wear it out. Are poops normal? I agree with My lil friend about seeing a vet, this should be done as soon as possible. Puppies that age do sleep alot.

Thankfully she has been eating just fine, as for the water not so much but she is drinking. I will def. give her bottled water rather then tap! I spoke with the breeder twice today & she has seems to think she's acting like that because she's extremely lonely. She has never been away from her sister & mother. When I picked her up on Friday I told the breeder I had a vet appointment on Tuesday, I tried calling the vet early this morning but they are closed since eating & drinking really isn't an issue I will switch my appointment to tomorrow!! Hopefully she just needs to adjust, I purchased a yorkie from her before & it was a great smooth transition. I guess thats just what I kind of expected!! Hope all turns out OK--Thanks for everyones advice~~

Healthy puppies play themselves into near fatigue usually. They are so full of vim and vigor it is really funny just to sit and watch all their antics when you first get them so this baby sounds as if she is having a medical problem of some kind. I don't want to scare you but the only puppy I ever had that acted like you describe yours acting had a serious neurological problem and a vet check revealed that. I pray that is not the case with your baby and it is just a tummy upset or something but she needs to be seen by the vet as soon as possible. Even hypoglycemic-prone babies, once their blood sugar is raised, begin to play and frolic and live their lives. I will be praying that this little one is only mildly sick or is anemic from worms or something perhaps fixable rather than anything really bad. I hope your vet news is good news and this little one will soon be tearing around your house full of energy.

Did she have shots shortly before you picked her up? That can make them a bit out of it. Not sure how long it can last though. Yuri just grumps around a sleeps a lot for a few days after.

Yumi had a vaccination the day a I picked her up and and had never been away from her siblings either. Not suer if it was the shots or is she was just lonely, but she acted just like that. I had her vetcheck the day after and he said she was fine. A couple days later she was trying to lick yuri's face off... I think he liked her better before
