| I am at my witts end!!!!!!!! Please help. Phoebe is almast 6 month old now and I sware she is getting worse about doing her business where she is supposed to. She is in an ex-pen, in my kitchen and 99.9% of the time she does great on the pads. About 1 month ago she also started to do well when she wasn't confined, She would be in the middle of playing and she would stop, go back into the kitchen and use her pad. Now if she is not confined she just goes any where she wants including right in front of me. She gets repremanded, I shake the can of coins and then confine her again. I really don't know what to do, So if any one has ANY suggestions please pass them along. I love her to death but it is really starting to push me over the edge with her. |

| Well, at least she's got it right while in the ex-pen. That's something to be proud of! If it were me, I'd go back to treating and praising lavishly when you catch her going on the pads (even if it's when she's in her pen). She needs to have it reinforced that pottying there pleases you! You might also take a pad with you when you go to other rooms (or keep some in other rooms). I personally wouldn't punish (reprimand, shaking coins) when she goes in the wrong place. Too often, it leads to a dog who sneaks away from you when he/she has to "go". The most I did was an "Oh, Joey" in a disappointed tone. That was all it took - when combined with treats/praise for doing it right. |
