Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | My Little Picky Potty'er Hey guys! Question for you...is your Yorkie picky about where he/she potties? Katie Scarlett is pad trained. She was doing fabulous before her spay last week. She had a few accidents, but is getting a lot better. I think she is getting back on track with one exception. She will not pee on her pad in our living room (aka man cave). We stay in this room the majority of the time and chill, watch tv, surf the internet, etc. She will literally hold it and wait until we go out of the room to potty on one of the other two pads set up in the house. Do you think she has just claimed this whole room as her den and will no longer potty in here or what? Should I leave the potty pad in this room or maybe try sitting it right outside the door of this room? She has had 2 accidents this week in this room and they are usually close to the potty pad, but I think it was just because she couldn't hold it any longer. Is it possible they claim a room as their own and refuse to potty there? Thanks for any help/advice!

| I have no idea with regards to picky potty-ing for pad-trained pups - but Levi is very picky about where he will do his biz outside. He'll pee most anywhere, but there are only certain areas in our neighborhood where he'll finish up the rest of his business. Did KS use the living room potty pad before her spay?

| We only have ONE designated potty area in the house (in a dead end part of the hallway outside the bathroom). ZoE knows no matter where she is in the house, that's where she goes potty. Now admittedly, my current house is very small so ZoE doesn't have to walk too far to go potty. My last house, however, was areally big two storey with a full finished basement, making three levels. My last yorkie, Chelsea, knew to go to her potty area in on the main floor in the laundry room, and she never went anywhere else. I've also never had an issue with either dog peeing on rugs around the house, as some other members have. I've often wondered if it's because my dogs have always known WHERE to go, not just on what to go. Is there a reason you want to have multiple potty areas for Katie Scarlet?

| I think you hit the nail on the head with the 'den' thing. I think since it's the room where you hang out the most, and therefore it is where she hangs out the most..she has a tendency to not want to potty in it. Bella is the same way, barring the type of potty. She refuses to poopy on the pad by the front door (in the livingroom)...but she will peepee on it. She'll poopy only on the pad by the backdoor. I think you're right...they don't want yuckies in their house and they've claimed one room as theirs. lol |

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | She did go on a pad in the man cave (aka den) before the spay. Good news though, she hasn't had an accident in 2 days now. I had originally set up 3 because I was afraid she might not be able to make it from one end of the house to the other. But I have now narrowed that down to 2. She is preferring the pad in our bedroom near her big girl bed the most. I am thinking after a while making that her only potty pad. Let's home she continues with her progress. Thanks guys!
