| 13 week old Puppy Enjoys Humping During Play time When I get my 13 week old 2.5 lb puppy riled up. Like if we're playing fetch, or with his favorite toy he will try to mount my arm. He does this to guests and strangers as well. Isn't he a little young for this? Will neutering him reduce this? How should I prevent him besides saying no! ? Thx! |

| Haha! Many boy and girl Yorkies do this humping behavior. Neutering may help, but probably won't stop it completely. I always interrupt and redirect them, or a few minutes in Time-out to calm down, lol. My one female, spayed, had a bed she loved to hump. I put it up and tried to reintroduce it a number of times, finally the fourth time she hasn't humped it since, at least not when I'm watching! My other female only humps my arm when I put her on my bed, either to play during the day, or when I retire for the evening. She stops as I'm trying to extract my arm, then she does the zoomies around the bed before she'll settle down and goes to sleep. Honestly, I think it is an integral part of being a yorkie, so it's best to learn to accept the behavior somewhat, by keeping a favored toy or bed in a room away from guests, and gently redirecting him away from people when he's in the mood. I don't know if one can stop it completely... I think it may not be worth the effort....lol.

| My Peyton does it to his Piggy toy. It's not too excessive and doesn't bother me. I just ignore it and let him have at it.
