| Stop my two little ones from trying to mate.... I have two 4 month old puppies. My male is already trying to hump things and my bf says hes been getting "happy" lately. Anyway, Im really paranoid about them mating. How can I make sure they dont? I thought about putting them both in diapers, but I dont want them to pee on themselves. |

| Diapers are inadequate. The male will easily tear through the diaper if he wants to get to your female. I'm not sure what the right thing would be to do, other than keeping them physically separated when you cannot be right on top of them. It can happen very quickly. I'm sure the breeders will have more suggestions. Try posting in the breeding forum.

| From what I've heard/read complete separation is the only other alternative to spaying/neutering. I've heard they can tie through a fence, get diapers off, etc. I don't believe they can produce that young but I don't know for sure. Good luck!

| If they are litter mates, then have them spayed and neutered. You surely don't want brother and sister mating. Get the male neutered first, then the female before her first heat.

When they are together, normally they are always in my sight. I just want to make sure they cant even try to tie up. Plus if they have some type of protection on, it'll slow them down til I can stop them. | |

| I think you definitely do not want an accidental pregnancy with her weight. She is WAYYYYY too small to carry and deliver. I would definitely speak w your vet about when he thinks the soonest date is that he can safely spay. She will not be able to naturally deliver at that weight in all probability. You must protect her.

| I would suggest taking him to some shelters and letting him see how many dogs there are that dont have homes and talk to him about over population. Also his Chihuahua is more likely to run away if not fixed.
