| puppy classes at petsmart I noticed that puppy classes at petsmart take puppies up to the age of 5 months. At 12 weeks are most puppies ok to be in puppy classes or is it best to wait until they are older? What about their vacinations and parvo risks? I am just thinking it would be safer to wait. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | I recomend to all my puppy parents to wait until their pups have all their core vaccines and the add ons that are a necesity by region. in my opinion 6 months are older is a great age to start dog obidience classes, mean while at home you can stat with sit, come, stay comands at home. just my humble opinion.. |

| I did a puppy class at petsmart a LONG time ago (about 14yrs ago). If I remember correctly, the puppy has to be up to date of vaccines, including rabies. They taught basic stuff sit, down, walking on a leash, come, etc. |

| I think you definitely need to wait until he has all of his shots

| Thats because they want people to join there classes and make money but you really need to do what is the safest for your puppy which would be to wait until he/she has had all of its shots.

| They asked if I wanted to sign him up but my boyfriend and I feel way more comfortable if he has all his shots. We ended up going with a private trainer in the area. It costs more but it'll give my puppy the 1-on-1 time he needs. |

| Glad your waiting until he gets all his shots. I liked the petsmart puppy classes when I took Callie when she had all of her shots. There was 3 other puppies in the class and she loved them and loved the trainer we still see there trainer and she will ask how Callie is doing and Callie is 4 now.

| I talked to one of the trainers at PetSmart this weekend about their puppy classes this past weekend. She said that as long as the pups have all of their shots, they are good to go. She said most pups start around 4 months at the earliest in her classes. Max is 7 months now, but she said he could go in either the puppy class or the beginner class - which ever I though was best for him. A lot of the classes starting next month were empty, so she said if I let her know which class I wanted she could limit the size of the class and/or the size of the pups in the class. She seemed to be genuine about getting the right class for Max. Now if I can just get Max to Petsmart without him throwing up in the car |
