Peeing on MY Bed!

Greetings,

Roxie has been totally pad trained for 3 years. We move to a house where she can go out, (on a leash) and do whatever, so she hasn't used the pads in approx 5 months. She has sporadically peed on my bed. first couple of times I talked to her about it and showed her the pad which I keep down anyway. Last month when she peed on my bed, I blocked her from my bedroom for a couple of hours. Yesterday, she peed on the bed after going outside to pee, so I blocked her out for a longer time. Today, just after I took her out for her walk and she peed, I changed the bed again and she peed on it immediately, first of all where is she getting all this pee from??? and why does she feel the need to do it on my bed?? Somebody please offer some reasoning. Roxie is 4 years old, not fixed, spoiled absolutely rotten, but if she keeps peeing on my bed, she may be evicted! HELP!!!

I had a problem like this. I dont spank but after a while i got tried of it so i spanked him once and said bad and show him his pee pad and put him in his cage for a couple of hours. He never done it again. Hope i helped.

Not spayed is likely your answer. Girls will mark too.

I strongly disagree with spanking and I think you risk your girl not understanding, and breaking her trust in you.

Thanks for response, I heard marking is a few drops, this chick is putting down full loads, I think she is trying to get my attention, just can't figure out why? She knows she has done wrong because she goes and hides under a chair.

I could be wrong, but I think marking can be more than a few drops.

Many people have written here that their dogs have a thing for doing this on the bed or couch. They said it almost seemed spiteful, although most experts say dogs don't know spite. Some people said their dogs did it when they were left alone or something else undesirable was going on.

Are you sure the bed is the only place this is happening? (asking to rule out possibility of urinary tract infection). Is this ever in conjunction with her being in heat?

So many possibilities. I hope you can figure it out and stop this behavior.

I looked it up and some people said she might smell it from when she has gone before. So get some pet odor stuff to get rid of the smell. Or you could get the cage and make her sleep next to you in that for the night.

Marking is more than a few drops. Maggie marks outside and it is definitely more than a few drops. She is spayed, but she feels the needs to pee wherevere Buster has just peed when they are on their walks. Also, if she thinks another dog has been there, she will pee again even if she has just gone.

Hello Nellye 56. Believe it or not this is a very common problem. I am almost 100 % sure it is marking. My Rubin is 8 years old and never goes potty in the house. Except when he gets in my bedroom alone. He pees on the quilt near the floor, then jumps up and pees on the bed, on my side ! So Rubin my spoiled little prince, is banned from the bedroom. I absolutely do not belive in spanking your Yorkie. You can retrain, use doggie panties, cover your bed with a plastic shower curtain ( I am joking about the plastic shower curtain) or ban your doggie from the bedroom. Marking is different than having accidents during potty training.
It may help to have her spayed. Although Rubin is neutered since 6 months old. There are many many threads about potty problems, maybe someone has the answer that will work ffor you.

I'm calling the vet tomorrow, Roxie and I were playing ball as we do every evening, I'm laying on the bed, throwing the ball into the hallway, she's running and bringing it back, well low and behold, she jumps across my tummy to get off the bed and had peed just beside me and some got on my nightshirt. So is she marking me, or does she have a bladder problem and if it is a bladder problem why is it only a problem on my darn bed!

I think you are wise to take her in and at least rule out a urinary tract infection. Most of the time when they begin urinating in front of you or in places they have not normally gone that is what the problem is. At least you can rule it out and if is not then do some behavior training with her.

I personally don't have the answer, but a friend of mine had this same problem. Her dog would go as far to mark Walmart bags when they were brought in, if they were left on the floor. She had her dog fixed, and the problem stopped.
