| Claire pooped on the sofa tonight!! Help! Claire is 2 years old and has done very well with potty training-as long as we take her out regularly, she does everything outside. If we wait too long, she will go inside on a little rug. Tonight we got home after being away for most of the day/evening and took her right out. She did not go but as soon as we came in, she pooped right on the sofa!! She has never done that before!! Do you think it was because she was mad we were gone so long?? I have never heard of a dog going on the furniture!! I have to admit I was mad and scolded her. She slunk away with her tail between her legs. . . she really is a good little girl but I am troubled by this behavior and certainly don't want it to continue. . . thoughts anyone?? |

| She probably just didn't have long enough time outside to get things going before she got brought in and got on the couch. She could have been a little stressed from you being late home and dogs are sooo schedule aware and could not relax enough soon enough to go outside. Being excited now that you are finally home and she was back inside with you, it just had to come out. I find that Tibbe is a little put-off when his regular schedule is changed and since you weren't home when she expected you, it could have concerned her a bit.

| Uni's left a Mr Hanky on the couch a few times before (I think on purpose). Katie, our former foster, had peed on the couch before too. I don't think accidents on furniture is that rare.

| How long were your outside with Claire? It sounds like you were gone a long time, when you got home she was probably very excited and wasn't give a long enough chance to relax before being expected to "go". I would suggest you take her on a longer walk then normal when you first get home, giving her a chance to relax- don't come inside until she has done her business.

| I know they say that dogs don't do that for spite but sometimes I wonder. I will never forget the one and only time my little Casper peed on my bed. We had started out for a walk (he was still a puppy and loved his walks) but we got sidetracked by a group of little girls that wanted to hold and pet him. And I let them. End result, we had time only to head back home. Got home - and he peed on the bed. Guess I know what he thought about THAT walk! Or, it could be that he just didn't get a chance to pee! It never happened again and hopefully yours won't either.

| I know for my jack russell who is outside trained, he will sniff around for 10 to 15 mins. I get so aggravated, but I know if I don't give him that time, he will have an accident. |
