| Missed poops on pee pads Why does my 14 week old puppy go pee on her pee pad but not poop? Am I just not vigilant enough or will she get it soon? My husband's getting upset to find it on our rug as I clean it quickly with a pet spray. Any advice? |

| Hi! Mine does just the opposite - she poops on the paper and pees on the floor (right next to the newspaper but not on it). Sorry I don't have any advice to help you because I still haven't figured out why mine does it yet. But I'm sure someone will be along soon who can help you. Have a wonderful evening.

| Ziva will pee on her potty tray a few times before I change it- but if there is poop on it, it needs to be picked up before she will go back to the tray.Other wise she will circle around and than go next to it. (she is two and well trained but fussy about her likes). Luckily her tray is in the garage for when it's too rainy or dark to go outside. |

| Lil' Miss Izzie has to have seperate pads for her potty/poop.....she will use her potty pad a few times, but only use her poop pad one time and will not use it again unless it is poopless....I use the disposable pads for the poop and the cloth washable ones for her potty...

| When Max was a pup, he insisted on a fresh pad to poop. In fact, he went through a stage where the pad had to be changed every time he peed. Could be that your pup doesn't want to use a soiled pad, or doesn't want the poop on the pad. Make sure to dispose of the poop right away. That seems to be very important to my boys, that it is taken care of immediately. They both prefer to go outdoors if possible.

| To train to go on pads you have to cover the entire area where the dog is with pads, then slowly take them away until there is one left. Puppies should never be given full run of your house until completely trained. Cordon off the dog in a small enough area to cover. Maybe once a week take one pad away.

That's how we started. We were down to just one pad then I introduced the litter box. Now she won't poop in it. Although she did once this morning. Another obstacle is that she won't poop for up to 5 hrs after she eats. That alone makes training difficult. | |

Don't think of it in terms of being tied to meals. Look at the big picture, the entire day. Establishing a routine for mealtimes and activity (walks are beneficial) each day helps establish your pup's body rhythm so that you can anticipate potty times.

| I should ask how old your pup is. Keep in mind that your pup will have much greater control over her body as she matures. Teddy was over a year old before he could control his body and be more flexible about his pooping time.

| Roxy is only 5 months. I think she's actually doing well for her age. Im hoping she picks up on going pee and poo in the litter box on the pads only. Hopefully Patience and consistency will pay off in the long run. |

| She is very young. You have the perfect attitude to guarantee success: patience and consistency. Always praise her for good potties. Throw a little party, give her a kibble treat, and make it something you both look forward to.
