| Marking I got Parker about 11 months ago. He is 2 years old and of course not fixed. He marks constantly and the owner actually said, "I don't think he did this at my house". He has had all his shots, (now), and he wears a belly band. He doesn't look at going outside like going potty. Everything is a marking opportunity. So I do not know what to do about trying to break habit. He also runs and bites at your heals when you leave. I have to chihuahuas and Parker. Our first small dog (I had large before) is Napoleon and we got him as a puppy and he went to puppy class and was not in good shape when we got him but working with rescue and at a vet before he is now great. Second is a female chi and she was very shy and was not potty trained but is now. She is a very mommas girl. Now we have Parker and all total do not weigh 15 pounds. I would appreciate some help with him. |

| Does he have free roam? Treat it as if he was a puppy and your doing potty training all over again, starting with the basics. It sounds like you got Parker around the same age I got Kaji. Kaji was 12 months and an expert at marking. What I did was restrict his access to the house. He was allowed to roam only when I can give him my full attention. He did wear belly bands, but I only used them for a short period of time. I used them so whatever small amount of pee he was able to squirt would be captured and the furniture, or wall, or appliance was safe. I did walk around behind him as he was exploring his home. Whenever he did lift his leg, I corrected him. I did a double clap followed by a firm (but not yelling) "no." He was also on a strict potty schedule. I followed it everyday, and praised him immensely for peeing and marking outside. I wanted him to understand that it wasn't the act of peeing or marking that was bad, it was where he was doing it. He is now the perfect little gentlemen. I do keep belly bands on hand for when we go visiting a new house. The first time we visit is when this little guy decides to lift his leg. Every time after that he's ok.

| We do not let him free roam. I had to do this with my little chi when they said she was potty trained and I would give her a treat when she would go outside. She is not energetic and so gained weight so I started giving them cheerios. Even when we fostered great danes and they came to us not fixed they didn't mark in the house. He has the cutest little face and so we will keep working with him. The thing about tiny little dogs is they are so quick. I will tell you how bad he can be. He was on my bed with me and walked past my computer and was going to lift his leg and of course I said no. He also chases your heels when you walk out. Is that a yorkie thing? Thank you for the reply I appreciate any help or little trick I can get. |

| Chasing heels is normal. My baby is never farther than 1 step away. He's even sitting on my desk next to my laptop as I surf the web, "do HW," and watch I Love Lucy dvds. He is either there, sitting on my ankles, or somewhere where he feels he's on top of me.

| My male was fixed at or around 13 months. He is potty pad trained and I sometimes do find where he has peed where he shouldn't. I always know it is him vs the female. 1-most of the time it is against something ie corner wall, corner of something and he pees more than the female at one time. I scratch my head and try to figure out why and can-not. I do tell him no-no when I find it and he is near. He does pee outside but also like to mark there too. LOL If I see him going like he is about to pee somewhere other than the potty pad I follow him till he goes to the pad. |
