| 5.5 month old potty training question Norman is now 5.5 months old. He is crated at night and has been doing wonderfully with his potty training. I do have a question though. Every night he gets us up around 4 - 4.30am to go outside for a quick 'squirt'. Does anyone else have this issue? We would really like it if he would sleep through the while night! (We need our 'beauty rest'! lol) Last edited by Alvindy; 07-04-2011 at 11:25 AM. |

| My thought is that his bladder just needs to grow a bit. I'm sure lots of mom with babies also wish they would sleep through the night, but it usually doesn't happen. I think it's better that he tells you he needs to go, rather than going in his crate. Also, when you take him out to pee, don't do anything else. No play, no cuddling. As another poster mentioned to someone else, the last thing you want is to turn this into attention time. |

| ZoE is almost 7 months old and she wakes me up once in the middle of the night to go pee. Thankfully she's pad trained so I don't have to go outside

| Looks like we may have a problem...my husband brings Norman into bed after his middle of the night 'squirt'...I am sure that will not help with getting him to sleep through the night! This is the same husband that didn't want a 'girly' dog but now carries Norman around the house like he's a prize! |

| our 5 month old Douglas sleeps in our bed up above our pillows, and he is able to sleep all night now, if he wakes its around 6 am. he gets up and licks my face to tell me! I know not the best situation but it works for us! What would happen if you ignore him? (I am new at this just trying!)

| Ya I admit I could not stand to listen to constant crying/whining at night, so our Ozzy sleeps in bed with us. He sleeps better than we do now! My boyfriend is up at 4:15 for work, so takes him out for a pee then, then me and Ozzy snuggle until I get up at 5:30. However, on the weekends, Ozzy will sleep way later and never whines to go out or anything. But I think if he started acting up during the night I would make sure he's crated and just work past the whining and crying. For sure Ozzy can go 8 hours without a pee! |
