| Help! Sleepless night w/ Baby Chan! (crying in crate) I thought I had it made. From the very first day I brought Baby Chan home she would sleep all night long in her crate with no crying and no accidents! I've been bragging so much about how good she is and how luck I am! I've had her for a little over a month now and the past two nights she has kept me up almost all night long! I put her in her crate like normal and after a few minutes she starts digging into the blanket really rough and it shakes the whole bed that's how hard she's doin it! She digs and digs and bangs around I even think she is hitting her head sometimes! Then she starts crying and a little bit of barking! I tried telling her no in a firm voice and she stops for a minute but starts rigt back up! I let her out to she if she has to potty. Sometimes she will pee but it's just weird how she started doing this all of a sudden. Almost like she is coming out of her shell and being a bit naughty! Looking for words of wisdom please : ) tips? I'm soooo tired today... Need some advice! Thanks!!! |

| Could be that she is maturing and exercising a little independence, expressing an opinion. Do you use piddle pads, or are you doing outdoor training? If using piddle pads, you might want to consider an xpen at night with her bed in one corner and pad in the opposite corner.

| Haha! Yes, her opinion is that she now hates sleeping in her crate! I use pads but I try to take her out often when I think she needs to go. She will usually only pee on the pads and seems to hold her poo until she's outside. I am definitely going to give your suggestion a try. She likes taking naps in her bed, in her xpen and she knows to go on the paper so I will give it a try tonight! My little one is maturing and maybe she does want to sleep in her own bed now! Thanks for your reply! |

| My way of solving this problem was to let mine sleep with me. When he stirs, I take him out to potty, and then back to bed. At least I get some sleep this way. I can't stand to hear them cry. |

| The crying does make me sad... I wish she would sleep with me nicely. I must confess, I tried it. My boyfriend wasn't so into the idea! Haha! I tried it a few times. But she was restless and she kept moving all around the bed and jumping off my bed then barking at me to pick her back up and bring her back into bed. It stinks because my bed is kinda high and I even worry that it may be bad for her to jump off. And of course there is no way for her to get back up! She WAS doing better in her crate. Was is the key word : ) I HOPE she can snuggle in bed with me all night long one day. Maybe when she is older. |

No Longer a Member | Try tiring her out before bedtime, maybe a walk and playing some fetch first. It sounds like she is just restless and wants you up to play with her. **This is only the begining, lol, she hasn't even hit her "teens" yet |

| Omg! The teen years! I'm scared. I'm going to need a lot of help from all of you kind souls : ) LOL! My mom told me the exact same thing. Play with her before bed and tire her out! She loves running! And the best is when sh gets her toys and shakes them up all crazy! I love when she does that! Baby Chan starts getting sleepy around 7ish. I go to bed around 10:30ish. So she has already been in a deep sleep for about 3 hours. Gosh I think I need to go to bed earlier with her! Yup because in the dreadful early morning hours she is ready to get up and she does get very restless! And I'm still sleeping! Haha! No fun! |

YT Addict | Don't give in! She may cry and it may be sad but in the long run it'll be beneficial. Get some earplugs. She'll get used to it eventually. Lexi was in her Kennel for the first 6 or so months, then she started sleeping with me. But it's nice because if she ever does need to go in her kennel, she is very well behaved.

| Yup she's back in her crate. I only tried the xpen one night and it wasn't any better. And I let her sleep with me one night. Didn't work either. She's doing ok in the crate. Only got up twice the past few nights to pee. I wear my hot pink earplugs every night! Haha! I've always had to wear plugs. I'm a very light sleeper and my bf snores! Loud! And now with Baby Chan gettin restless they are a must! I know the crate training is a good thing! She's still just a baby girl and one day she will earn a spot in my bed : ) I read that somewhere here on YT! |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Tallulah was the same way when I brought her home -- went into her mesh pen willingly at bedtime and slept through the night - as long as I was in bed right next to her pen. The last couple of weeks she started crying when I put to bed and wouldn't settle down. Sleeping with me is not an option -- first of all, George would not appreciate it, but (don't tell him but more important) my bed is way too high and I know Tallulah would injure herself jumping off. Plus she's not housebroken yet and isn't allowed to be loose in the house without supervision. Our new routine is that we have a nice long play session until 1/2 to 1 hour before bedtime. Then we watch a little TV while we settle down. Finally we get in my bed and snuggle until she's been sleeping for 10 minutes or so. At that point she's so sleepy she doesn't want to be bothered, and goes willingly into her pen. Unless she needs to go potty at night, she sleeps right through, and in fact it's hard to get her to wake up in the morning. |
