Really bad crate and seperation anxiety!!Help! I got my baby Lulu 2 months ago when she was 8 months. She has terrible seperation anxiety and hasn't gotten better. At one point she would climb on teh kitchen table and look out the window for me to come home till the point that she tore up the blinds. Everytime I leave her to go out or even if she is downstairs in her crate overnight and im upstairs sleeping she will cry and scream. We have to keep her crated at night because she still uses the restroom in the house #1 and #2. I dont know wht to do. I can hear her screaming when I come up the driveway. When I come in as soon as I start to open her crate to let her out she pees in the crate. I have tried ignoring her becaus that is what the pet trainer told me to do but when I ignore she will pee in the crate if I dont get her out right away and she will also pee in the process of me getting her out. After getting her out I will pick her up to put her leash on and she is moving around so much liek wiggling and going crazy in my arms. I try to calm her by petting her and talking to her. I don't know what to do anymore. How do I get this under control? She follows me around everywhere I go (which is no problem ) and as soon as I go in my bedroom she will go under my bed the entire time I'm in it. Any help with this would be awesome! She whines, makes this cooing noise, and screams. Any help with how to stop her from using the restroom in the house would be awesome too. She knows how to go outside. She seems okay with people that come in our home and out other dog if we are outside she will show out and bark at other dogs and people. She is so anxious that she gets our other dog axious and also makes him feel like somehting is wrong that he needs to protect her. Backgroud info:We got her from a family that her had since she was a baby. They had 6 kids of all ages and another dog as well. They told me she was potty trained but hated the crate. They said they wanted to rehome her because she kept running out of the gate into the road. This is our first Yorkie. Thanks, Desperate Mom that needs answers.

Snuggle puppy Have you ever heard of a snuggle puppy? It's a flat stuffed doggie that has a heart beat sound inside and something you can warm. I haven't tried one yet but I have ordered one so when get my new baby around Christmas maybe the transition will be easier. Maybe it's worth a try. Just search Snuggle Puppies. They are so cute and the customer testimonials are really sweet. 1mommy23

As far as your crate being downstairs, our 2 Yorkies are crate trained for sleeping in it at night only. But we have the crates beside our bed. For several months I had to "sneak"/literally tippy toe or one of them would whine until I came back in...not so now as she knows I'll be right back. Whenever they whined I just said (in a soft baby tone voice), go back to sleep, I'm here...and they'd be quiet. I'd be willing to bet if you put the crate next to where you sleep after a few evenings of assuring her you're right there she'll sleep through the night. Our first one I'd hang my hand over the bed and into the top opening of the crate and she'd go to sleep for the first few nights. Now ours go to bed at 8:30 and sleep in their crates until morning. They go and stare at their crates and bark to be put in around 8:30 every night (weird they have an internal clock - they even have this routine Carly gets in her bed first, I comb out Gracie and then she goes to bed). They have a routine and it works. Even the 10 week old puppies go to bed around the same time and sleep until morning (but they have access to a potty pad just outside their sleeping area - x pen,) But when the alarm goes off they go off too all to be let out! I didn't ever plan to have a 'routine' having always had large dogs before that sleep in the kitchen at night, go to bed when they want, never used crates...just turned out this way and it really works for us. When you're gone: best thing we ever did was get our first Yorkie her own Yorkie. Thus two. (now five counting the puppies!) Kendra

| There are several things that come to mind... -someone suggested leaving their little one so they are able to look out the window while you gone. -have you tried walking out for a short period of time and then come back in over and over? What I mean is walk out the door and literally come back in, in seconds. Keep doing this until you build up time while "going out". I tend to forget things so I wind up coming back in several times, it gets to a point that my 2 will just go about their business because they think that I'm just going into the laundry room (leading to garage to go out) for a few seconds. Each time I come back in they are further and futher away from the door. -do you leave a radio or tv on for her while you are away? I had heard that you could put a ticking clock beside their crate at night to mimic a mother's heartbeat. We did that with Hot Rod, can't say if it worked or not but it can't hurt. You've gotten some good suggestions with the snuggle puppy and putting the crate beside your bed. Good luck.

Thank you all. She sleeps in the bedroom with me at night. She likes to sleep under the bed for the most part and sometimes I will let her sleep there because she is so comfortable. If I leave her out of the crate when I leave the house, she is fine and will greet me at the door with a hug. I don't mind leaving her out liek that but she isn't potty trained completely. Today I went to dinner with a friend and oh boy when i came back. She cried and screamed like a banshee like I've never heard before. So I ignored and asked my friend to as well. We came upstairs and stayed up here for a few mins while i put on my sneakers to take her out. I decided that I would fake her out and step on the first step only and she immediately stopped crying! it was like magic. She stopped! until she heard me began to come the stairs. So as soon as I made it to the cage..she peed. Go figure! The t.v is always on and we have another dog as well so I don't really know what to do. I just know that I have to figure something out because it's driving me crazy! But it's so sweet when she hugs my leg like I'm going to leave her forever.
