| Does your indoor/outdoor dog do this? My little Linus is about 95% potty trained to go outside, but we do keep a potty pad in a corner for those days that I get tied up at work and he just can't hold it, or if it's just a little too cold for him to find the perfect spot to poop outside. However, when he does go poop or potty inside, it's ALWAYS on the potty pad, no lifting his leg on the corner of the couch or anything like that. However, over the past couple weeks, I'll take him out to do his business, he does it, I let him sniff around and play for a few minutes, then when he gets cold, we go inside. Then, 10-15 minutes later, that little rugrat will pee on the potty pad!! Not a lot, just a few drops, but right after we came in!! It makes no sense whatsoever because I take him out every 2-3 hours, I give him plenty of time to do whatever he needs to, but then it's almost like he's "marking" his potty pad. I just don't get it. Linus is a couple weeks shy of a year old, he was neutered around 5 months old and we don't have any other animals in the house, it's just me and my roommate. We don't have any other marking problems so I don't know what the deal is. Does anyone else have this problem at their house? By the way, this is a picture of Linus sitting in his favorite place, right in front of our space heater. It's a terrible photo from my phone, but it's still funny! |

| Hmmm... that's odd. The first thing I'd look out for is medical, possible UTI, maybe? Keep us updated. I hope someone else has a better idea.

| If you are rewarding him for peeing in the "right" place he could have figured out that peeing gets a reward... Not sure how to fix that cause you still want them to pee in the right spot. What about trying a grid system, pee pads smell so that dogs know to pee there, maybe trying a different system would eliminate the urge to go.. I've posted a thread about grid training... have a look at it, it may help.
