Kiwi wont poop on her peepad anymore!

My kiwi is 7 months already, almost 8, and has been doing excellent on the peepad with rarely any accidents (sometimes she would pee a bit off the pad because her pee was so large)

anyways, recently i noticed that she won't poop on her pad anymore, but would still pee on it. i started putting her back into her playpen, then she would poop on it. but when i let her out she would just go wherever! when i do see it, i would pick up her poop and bring her back on the peepad and say "poopoo here"

can anyone tell me why she isn't pooping on her pad anymore

Harley is a year old and he isn't pooping on his tray anymore, and it's super annoying. He goes outside though... But we live in an apartment and I don't always get him outside enough. I wish I could get him back on the tray. I look forward to hearing thoughts on this.

Poppy was the same.
She was trained on the pads since she was around 2 months old, once she turned around 4 months old she wouldnt poop on the pad anymore and would poop else where in the house.
Then this slowly turned to her ignoring the pad all together and peeing around the house too.
I decided that was a good time to train her to go outside and she seems a lot happier.
I also give her a treat when she goes potty in the correct place and she seems to be catching on.
Is there a reason why you dont want your pup to go outside? if not I recommend taking her out and treating her every time.

We just aren't always there... we're in an apartment. He goes out once a day for a walk. but we like the option of having the indoor potty. that and I suck at timing, so if we didn't have it, he'd definitely make mistakes.

In that case I think you should crate him when you arnt home (if your not doing it already) because it has really worked wonders for me and Poppy.
Also find something he really loves, Poppy loves cheese at the moment and use it as a reward.. he will soon catch on when he knows what he has to do for a treat.

Yeah we keep him in his room (which has about a 2x4 floor space including his crate), and he can't get up on the bed unless we are there. I'm going to try a few things this weekend, and try and develop a new system. my breeder suggested a few things, and I'll let you know if they work. I also think I need to fully sanitize his room, so assure it doesn't smell like poo, cause each day I spot clean. With the move it's just been super busy, (I know bad excuse, and I admit his problem is caused by us). I just hope I can figure it out.

As for crating when we're gone, I just can't leave him in a crate that long. some times we are away for a while, at least in his room he can go pee if he has too. We're in midterm season right now, and I've got a zillion group projects, so we are inconsistent.

I think I've pretty much answered why there is an issue, lol... our inconsistency.

You might try pee pads in 2 different areas. Teddi doesn't like to pee on the same pad as she poo's. So I have one in the dining room for her to poop on and one in the kitchen for her to pee on. She likes to poop privately so it works out best. Maybe put a pad where you dog is pooping because maybe it might be the same scenario.

I don't crate kiwi either because I'm usually gone for more than 4 hours even though i know she would be able to hold her pee until i come home. I just gated a corner off in my room and i put her there when im away.

Belle was trained on pee pads from the beginning and was learning really quickly, especially with a treat everytime she used the pad. Then she started pooping in a different room. I've learned that alot of dogs don't like to pee and poo on the same pad. So I also keep one in a different room. It works great unless I fail to notice that she has pooped in the other room and she didn't get her treat. She solved that, just drag the pad out to the livingroom so mommy can see Nice when we have company. Now at 2 yrs. I'm trying to convince her that she doesn't get a treat if she just gets close to the pad. She seems to think if her front feet on are it that should count. It's kind of a stand-off right now
