| Help with new rescue yorkie We got a new rescue last Thursday, her name is Izzy she is 4yrs old. I need help please. We have 3 other yorkies, Deiter, Cozmo, and Nakisha. Here is the deal. Izzy has attached her self to me. Really bad. She won't let any of the other ones near me, I left yesterday for about 3 1/2 hrs to go to my Grandson's football game. Well when I came home Izzy was so excited to see me that she kept nibbling and bitting my toes, face, fingers. One time she even drew blood. I told her no bite. She won't let me leave her side. What do I need to do with her and me. Also if I am sitting in a chair she is right there with me. If one of the other dogs come up there she attacks them. I tell no and pick the other one up with her next to me and tell her it is ok. I sure hope someone can help me. Thanks

| Congratulations on your new addition and thank you for rescuing. Did you adopt her from a rescue or a shelter? If she was in rescue have you tried to contact her foster home and see how they handled her? You are wise to recognize this an a problem and glad to see you are trying to address this issue. I think that what Izzy is doing is not attaching herself to you but showing possessiveness which is a big problem. My thought and suggestion would be to ignore all the pups when you first walk into the house. Once you put your things down and settle in then greet each one and make Izzy wait her turn. If I were you I would not even allow her to be the first to her food bowl. Give the attention to the others first. She needs to be put into her place in the pack and recognize that her behavior is inappropriate. If she bites immediately put her down and ignore her. When she is on your lap and the others approach you put her to the floor as well. Stay consistent with how you are handling the situation. Do not allow her to dominate you or the other three. If you do not stop this behavior NOW it will continue to get worse and there will be fighting. Good luck and let us know how it is going with Izzy.

| Thank you. I got her from where she has lived for 4 yrs. The family didn't want her know more. My nepew called me and asked if I would take her before they took her to the pound. He said I know she would have a great home with you. That touched my heart. Today I have been up and down or coming and going. Been doing laundry, and cleaning and staying busy. When I go up I act like I don't see any of them and just go about myself. Then after 15 min I will bend over and love on all of them. She doesn't like it but that is the way it has to be. When she growels at the others I pick her up and growel and show my teeth at her, that way she know that I am the mom or pack leader. And boy do her ears goes back when I do that. lol but it sure makes me feel better. lol I talked to the old owner and he said that he never paid any attention if any of that happened. I was like what. But then again he did give her away. Izzy sure wasn't part of there family was she. I hope that helps alittle bit more

| Just keep doing what you have tried today and see how it goes. My Pebbles can be just like her. I really think it is a girl thing. My boys are so much more laid back and just don't care. Pebbles is always the first to start a problem or show teeth. What a beast! The other thing that I started to do was to make Pebbles work harder for her food too. What I mean by this is that she needs to sit, wait, shake, stay, and shake again before she is allowed to approach her food bowl. Boy, did she catch on quick when I really put my foot down to let her know that pushing her way ahead of the others was just not going to work. Look for little things like this that she try to push forward with and stop her attempts. Make her work for everything that she gets including your attention. It really has help a great deal at our house. Not that she is perfect but I have to say she is so much better and a continued work in progress. Hope my suggestions help. Poor little girl not having someone to love her these past 4 years. It really is hard not to spoil them and try to over compensate for what she missed but it is for the good for everyone in your home.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Congratulations on your little rescue. When I took Nikki in 6 months ago he attached himself to my side. He still has to be right next to me if I am home. He took an instant dislike to Cali, who is my sweetest one, and would attack her if she tried to get near me. Fortunately, Nikki is 15-16 years old and has no teeth so he can't really hurt my girls. But he does intimidate them. He has gotten better with Cali but will attack her once in awhile. I try and watch for the signs he is getting ready to go after her and stop him before he can attack. I see him staring at Cali, stiffening up and then I say loudly No Nikki, lay down. Sometimes he will lay back down other times I have to restrain him. Other than that he just sleeps or will hang with my 3 girls for meals and when I am up and about. Since we have no idea how Nikki spent his first 13 years, I try to cut him some slack and let him lay with me a lot. My 3 girls are very tolerant in letting him be with me, but I make sure they get plenty of love and kisses. I had never had a rescue before so I really didn't know how to handle the situation. I got good advice on here about not letting him dominate my attention, but I felt so bad for him and my girls really seem ok with it. Izzy is much younger and could hurt one of your others so you probably need to establish rules with her as to her attacking them. Hopefully with time and love she will become one of the pack. I now many experienced rescuers can give you better help.

| Thank you ladies for you help in info. I will keep doing what I have today. But I don't think that she is liking it at all. The afternoon when we came back from town. When I got up stairs to let them out. Izzy was so excited to see me she started after my toes. I made a really loud squill she jumped and I had to laugh because she thought that she got shot or something. But she left my toes alone until we got down, then she started in again and I made the sound again and she just looked at me like I was crazy. lol But thank you so very much for you wonderful words of kindness and help.

| You've already gotten great advice, but I did think of one thing..... Has Izzy been spayed? If not, that could be part of her aggression towards your other Yorkies. |

| oh she crys the whole time that I am away. It is driving Bob nuts. lol I keep working with her, I think that she is figuring out that I am the Boss. Today when I came in she didn't nibble on my toes or anything. So that is a big step. At least I think it is. I can hear her crying while I am down here on the computer. Thaks for asking
