| She's too well trained now. Tinkerbell is just too well trained now, she is driving me nuts. When she wants to go out to potty I taught her to scratch the door, which she does really well now. However she also scratches the door for everyother reason about every 20 minutes all day long. If Chloe lays by the door, she scratches it for her thinking she might want out, if she hears the cat she will scratch the door to have the cat come in. Sometimes she scratches the door just so she can look out and then run back in the house (just checking out what's going on out there I guess???) She'll be outside, I'll call her in and then she scratchest the door immediately after I shut it. I have started telling her no, and then she'll come sulk by my feet |

Alternately, you might try shutting her out for a bit longer than she wants - that might make her think twice about asking to go out. Sometimes, I leave the backdoor propped open so that Joey can go in-and-out at will. In some ways, his wanting to be outside pleases me - he is after all, a dog enjoying doing doggie things. Also, when he's outside, he's not getting into trouble inside!

You just help them scratch the door or ring the bell with their paw everytime you go out. She went from that stage to scratching the door when I would tell her and then to doing it on her own. Sophiesmom and suz those are funny stories! Last edited by chloeandj; 10-29-2005 at 08:15 AM.

| Lexy loves to go outside, too - but she wants one of us to go outside too. We spend a lot of time outside. She not only scratches but barks wildly if she really wants out - and that's just to look around. On nice days I prop the storm door open for her. Don't have a good place for a doggie door. She has to watch all the neighbors and all their dogs. I think God appointed her watchdog of the world and nobody is going to tell her any different.
