| Beyong Fustrated! I don't know what to do. My baby is a year old now and still soils the carpet. She uses the pad, but still soils the carpet too. Other times, she just uses the pad, then the next day, 4 to 5 accidents on the carpet. I am at a loss and getting really upset at her. She isn't stupid, very smart, so why does she keep doing this? Pad is in the same place it has always been. Today is not a really good day either for me to put up with this. My emotions has been at red. She is so sweet but sooo stuborn. I just don't get it. |

| It might be time to go back to basics. If her accidents are as frequent as you described, she might not be ready for all the freedom. Go back to crate training, or putting her in her ex-pen (whichever you used) and limit her freedom unless you're able to watch her like a hawk. Also, treat your carpet with Nature's Miracle if you haven't already. This stuff has enzymes to break down any residual pee that is in your carpet. Just because other cleaners clean to your satisfaction, doesn't mean anything is left behind for your pup to smell. Any left over smell is an open invitation for your pup to pee on your carpet.

| As the proud owner of three dogs (Yorkie and two Biewers) I have two that use pee pads. The Yorkie only goes outside. I have come to learn with pee pads that "on or close" is about the best you are ever going to get with them. They will rarely be the dog that uses the pee pads 100% of the time. I also find that they'll do really good with it for a few weeks at a shot, then all of a sudden they can't hit the pee pad to save their souls! In watching mine, especialy with bowel movements, sometimes they start on the pad but as the "potty dance" progresses, they end up backing their backside just off the side or edge of the pad. Are you by chance mixing training outdoor potty breaks with pee pads? I tried this with one of mine and found that he would pick "anywhere" to go in the house when I was giving him the option of "going anywhere" outside in the grass. So I've since stopped trying to train him to use the outside grass. Do I like that they miss the pee pads? Nope, I don't. But what I do tell myself is that the JOY that my dogs bring into my life far outweighs the grief of cleaning up an occasional accident. Good luck!

| All it takes for a puppy to pee just once on a carpet and you can never trust them again. I know this sounds very expensive, but it's about the only way you can train your baby. Get rid of the carpet and put down wood or laminent. No throw rugs, at least till she's trained. (as long as you keep that carpet she will always pee on it. No amount of cleaning, even professionally will get rid of the odor completely). Don't let her have but one room where you can watch her, and put one pad down in the same place all the time. You could even put her in the expen with bed and toys and start taking her outside every hour. Keep her outside to potty and exercise. I guess I didn't ask if it was your own home or renting. If your renting, then have the carpet cleaned but never let her on it unless your right there to grab her when she starts to pee.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Clean the carpet with an enzyme cleaner like Nature's Miracle. Follow the directions and it really works. If a dog can smell even the slightest bit of protein from the urine, it will return to the spot. Cleaners with enzymes contain special bacteria that actually "eat" the protein, so there is NO trace of scent left. These are different than cleaners that neutralize the smell. You can even buy a black light that will show you all the urine spots, and just spray those. Give the product time to work.
