Continue with the crate training. Whenever you can't keep a vigilant eye on him put him in in the crate (but take him out first). Crate training is a long process but it's so worth it in the end if done correctly (we did it correctly with Nala our second dog, and are so happy!) Keep up the patience, it's stressful and frustrating but it'll work out in the end. It honestly took about a year until each dog was fully trained but Nala got it quicker than Bandit. Welcome to YT

We still have ours set up and Bandit is 3 and Nala is 1. Bandit sometimes sleeps with us but otherwise they sleep in their crates and we put them in there when we are at work. Make it as "homey" as possible and don't use it as a punishment for accidents, that was a mistake we made with Bandit, and finally within the last year he's started going in the crate on his own when he wants a nap, while Nala did that from the beginning. We have their crates next to each other and a blanket over them except for the front to create a 'cave' feeling which our trainer said was great. If he's 9 months and still having accidents I'd expect to keep it up for a while, and then after he's been 100% for a while decide if you want to continue using the crate. Just make sure you give the pup lots of chances to use the bathroom outside and watch him like a HAWK when he's playing and otherwise crate him. It will teach him crate = bed (don't soil) and outside = potty. It's not going to happen overnight but the better you are at watching him the quicker he'll learn.

That's the correct size. I believe I have the smallest size crate (Bandit is 4.5 Nala is almost 6) and I have their beds in there which actually makes it a little smaller. At first I had to put the divider in too. It seems cruel, but the majority of their time in there they're sleeping.

Training Yorkie When I got my first baby the beginning of last year, I tried to keep her in the crate whenever we left the house. (I had an 11 year old pek at the time.) Both slept in their crates at night, but I left my pek blocked in the family room when we left the house. My poor little baby had a very hard time with us leaving her in the crate when we were gone and at night. She would jump the crate across the floor when we were gone and both at night and when we were gone, she would have a runny mess in the crate. Really bad too. I was so frustrated that I started leaving her in the family room (puppy proofed) with my pek when we left the house (I think she was 4 or 5 months old). She did wonderful. No potty or anything and several times we were gone for 4 to 5 hours. Well, then I had the night time potty thing to worry about. So at about 7 or 8 months, I moved her crate upstairs with me. Not one cry from her that she needed to go out or anything. She just needed me. She would sleep as long as I did. If my husband let her out to potty early in the morning when he got up at 4:30 am (more for him than her), she would come running up the stairs to climb in the bed with me. I didn't put her back in her crate. Well, now I have a new baby and she is doing the same. I can leave her for the same timeframe and she is great. They both just need someone else to be around. ...Just my experience...Good Luck...You'll find what works for you and your baby.
