YorkieTalk Newbie! | #2 not happening on the pad Hello everyone! My rescue yorkie - the vet guesses that she's about 5 yrs old - has no problem going #1 on a wee wee pad. She has mastered this! However, she refuses to go #2 on the pad. I don't know what to do. Any ideas? By the way, I don't crate her. I know people say it's the way to go, but it was too traumatic (for her and me!). Thanks! |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Hi - I also am a new Yorkie parent (got Bridget about 2 months ago). I tried the kennel thing too but she just seemed so unhappy. She has a full bedroom to herself complete with her kennel, her travel kennel, bed, food, water, toys, etc....all that she needs while I'm at work. She also had issues pooping on the pad - until I put a separate pad down - and oddly enough the second pad is in her kennel, which is where she decided to do #2 (just goes to show what she thought of it) so I figured I might as well go with the flow . I can't say she doesn't have an accident, but 90% of the time she poops in there and pee's on a separate pad (I actually put 2 pee pads down outside the kennel, and one in the kennel). She may pee on the pad in the kennel, but she will never poop on her "pee" pads. Someone on here suggested the separate pad, but I never imagined she'd want it in the kennel!! Good luck! | I know with my Teddi she likes to poop privately. She will pee on the pad in the kitchen but won't poop there. I have to put another pad in the corner of the dining room for her to poop. If you dog has a place they seem to be pooping try putting a pad there and see if they will use it. Also, I wouldn't let them have the full run of the house because it's too big a space for them and I think they forget where to go. Teddi only gets the living room, kitchen and dining room. I shut the door to the hallway. Good luck.

| I was just reading this thread and feeling for everyone with #2 problems as I have the same problem with Samy - who would not poop on his pad but only wee there... and I turn around looking over my shoulder to see Samy doing his #2 business on the pad for the very first time without me pointing him in that direction... soo proud of him.. but for some reason I have the feeling this might be one in a million and he might not remember to do it there again.. i made sure to treat him like a king so hopefully he remembers

| I'm having the same problem too. She will poop in random places. I have like 4 pee pads all over the house just incase and sometimes she poops on them and sometimes she does. When I'm there, she poops on the pad. When I'm not, she doesnt. |

| I've heard indoor potty training is iffy business.. or so my groomer says. She's adamant that a dog trained to go on a pad will never really be 100% accident free. |
