Silly/Frustrating #2 training problem =/ So i just got my yorkie this week, his name is Kona and i've been trying to crate train him. He pees in the exact same spot in the grass outside but the second that we come back inside he insists on pooping on my hardwood floors. He just seems so confused and i'm not sure how to fix it. He pees fine outside but wants to poop inside =/ weird...any suggestions???!!

I wouldn't let him in until he poops where you want him to and then make a big deal and give him a treat. The second you see him start to sniff or circle in your kitchen out he goes. Sometimes they need to walk around a little bit to get everything moving when they are outside. If he starts to do it on your floor I'd say uh oh and put him outside immediately.

Thor's Human Donating Member | A lot of dogs like to poop indoors. It feels safer and more private. If you do a search on potty training, you will find literally hundreds of threads on this topic, and this specific problem. Good luck! Let us know how it goes. |

Next time he poops inside put it outside by his pee spot. That way, he'll get the hint that that's where he's supposed to go. Kudos for getting your pup potty trained (at least #1) so quickly!!!!

I agree with not letting him back in until he does his number 2 outside, it's frustrating standing out there with them, but it's worth it! Remember loads of praise if he "goes" outside! Good luck!
