Question 6 week old puppy pad training

I am getting my little baby at 6 weeks old and I will be at work 9 hours a day 5 days a week and I dont want to have to worry about my yorkie having to go to the bathroom so i wanted to puppy pad train him. Is this something hard to do? I heard its easy and sometimes I hear its not a easy thing.

Advice needed...Thanks!

I would worry about him getting hypoglycemia more than the potty training right now. That is to young to be away from momma. Yorkies need to be 12 weeks before going home. They learn alot of things from being with mom and other litter mates. I would ask the breeder to keep him longer.

Agreed... 6 weeks is WAYYYY to young to be bringing him home.

Also, with you being gone 9 hours there is a HIGH risk of this puppy suffering from hypoglycemia.

I would contact your breeder and ask them to keep the puppy until at least 12 weeks.

Way too young for a puppy to be away from their mama, and Way too long for the puppy to be alone, first talk to your breeder not reputable breeder will let a puppy go that early, second, you need to find someone that can come in your home and visit with this puppy once he is home.toy breeds should be check at least twice a day if alone for that leght of time. if you buy this baby this early and leave him along this long, YOU are looking to have a VERY SICK puppy in your hands in NO time..

I would have to agree with the last three post.
6 weeks is very young and not safe at all. I would not recommend leaving a young pup home for 9 hrs each day...Also, I would ask the breeder to hold on to the pup for a few more weeks. If they are not willing to do that I would question buying a pup from them..JMO

you won't like my answer either. At 6 weeks I don't even think they should be alone for that long. Too many things that can go wrong - they're very VERY tiny at this age. We don't know the circumstances but it's not fair to a very young puppy to be left alone when only 6 weeks old. Training is going to be the least of the problems that could come up when you aren't there

It's different with larger breeds - they're much more hearty

If mama passed then is the BREEDERS RESPONSABILITY to see that this puppy is raised until 12 weeks of age, she has to feed him at least every 4 hours how are you going to do that if you are at work? you also need an x pen to keep him safe and secure.I am sorry the mom was lost but is imperative that your breeder steps to the plate and do what is needed for this baby. I start pad training as soon as my babies can climb out of the wehelping box by putting a pad right in front of the box usually my bitch pees on it and the puppies learn by watching her. if you take this puppy this early you NEED to feed him every 4 hours and make sure he pees and poop, toy breeds are VERY different that the big dogs.
best of luck with your training.

I dont think the dog is in a good sitaution right now. She is my good friends sister so I wanted to be there to help. Like I said I have NEVER taking care of a pup before so my idea was to leave food out and water and have a creat for him and just shut the bathroom door where he would be. You think that would be to much room for him to rome around in? Also what kind of food you think I should leave him???

I could come home for lunch to see him.

ok, this pup needs to eat every 4 hours, a mix of grinded kibble mixed with goat's milk, if you buy the concentrated can you need to mix one can of goat's milk to one can of distilled water, grind the puppy kibble in the food processor to a very fine powder and mix it and put it in a saucer and check to see if he knows how to eat it, this process needs to be reapeated 4 or 5 times a day, with the last feeding right before he goes to bed. he is going to be lonely and Cry and cry if left alone for too long, I know I took in one of my neighbors babies because her bitch died of eclamsia and she had to work, I am a stay at home wife so I had the time to help her raise the little one, go to the pet store and buy an x pen and put his crate and pee pee pad in oposite sides, with his food and water close to the crate, that is all the space he needs for now and he will be safe and secure. and please talk to family and friends and try to have him check every 4 hours at least.
hugs,

Yes agreed!

I had a momma pass away when she had a litter. I kept the pups for over 12 weeks with their litter mates. No way I would have let them go before 12 weeks even more so with mom passing away.

I am just freaking out because I am about to get this little baby and I have never in my life had a dog and I just want to care for it the best I can with me being gone for 9 hours a day 5 days a week. I feel horrible doing that but its only going to be for 3 1/2 months then my hubby will be back from his deployment and then the baby will only be left at home for only 4 hours a day.

Please please ANYONE that can give me advice It is much needed.

Best advice is to leave the baby with someone who can watch him during the day. 6 weeks, sometimes they don't even have teeth.

I got a puppy too early once and for no reason he passed during the hours of 3 am and 9 am. That is all it takes for them to pass away. My pup was 9 wks
