| Switch to weewee pads? I just got my puppy a couple days ago and was waiting for her to settle in before starting housebreaking, so today I put newspaper down and she ran right to it and used the bethroom!!!!! Pure luck? Then 2 hours later again she went all on her own on the paper. I have weewee pads but I'm wondering since I've been so lucky with the newspaper should I stick with it or switch. |

| Sounds like one smart little cookie!! Lucky you!! I say use potty pads either paper or cloth (washable) since they have a waterproof backing. I wouldn't want wet newspaper directly on my floor. If she doesn't go on the potty pads, put a newspaper on top for awhile and slowly decrease the size until you don't need the newspaper on top anymore. By the way, CONGRATS on the new puppy!!! Enjoy her while she's little, puppyhood goes by so fast.

| If your dog is going on newspapers and don't mind them on your floor, they are a lot less expensive than the potty pads. I am getting my puppy in a couple of weeks. I thought I would try the newspapers too. If it works, there is a tray at Petco I thought I would put down and slowly move the papers into it. The tray would be easier to scrub than my floor I think. I have brainstormed all kinds of things to help with housebreaking. Sounds like you have a good thing going so far - why mess with it?

| What a good little Yorkie. It's like Christmas in February lol. Try putting the newspapers on the potty pad (disposable or washable) to let her know to go there. Expose parts of the potty pad over time until she's just using the potty pads. Newspapers might be more green to use, but they aren't very sanitary. Potty pads or the washable ones have backing to prevent leaks. |

| "Underpads" (Bed Pads) i.e. Depends, etc. Just wanted to suggest an alternative to the wee wee pads. I use underpads (bedpads) (you can find them at drugstore.com Online Pharmacy - Prescription Drugs, Health and Beauty, plus more) and I buy a case at a time. There are 150 to a case and I cut them in half...giving me 300--putting each one near one of the toilets. Works well. I've trained three separate small dogs this way...a Pom, a Chi, (both gone) and my new little Yorkie. Hope this helps someone save a little money |

| That must be a great yorkie. I would try putting the Newspaper under the pad so it still has the scent. After a while you could probably take the newspaper out. |
