| A barkless Yorkie! Hello YT! Despite all the books that I have read or programs/videos (thanks youtube-YT) I have noticed that my Yorkie rarely barks. Alll the literature on them proport that Yorkies are very yappy. The only time my Hugo barks is when I come home, but very briefly. He sometimes barks when he plays and romps with his brothers and sister (non-yorkies). I was wondering if other YT members have experieinced this with their furbabies or was it just me...I mean honestly I love that he does not bark, but was wondering if Hugo was one of the few...Please feel free to comment. Oh by the way( cuz I know someone is going to ask), I asked the vet and Hugo has a clean bill of health. |

| How old is he? Buddy didn't bark until he was around 5mos old. I thought I had it made until one night he heard something in the hall and barked! I jumped out of the chair in amazement because the bark was so deep and loud you would have sworn it came from a german shepard! |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | When I first got Missy, she hardley ever barked. Lasted until she was almost 6 months. I think she found her confidence because she's very vocal now. She's not yappy, by any means, but if she wants something, she most definetly lets it be known!

| Oliver is 10 months old, I only heard him bark about 4 times....and that was at Petco barking at other dogs when they first barked at him.

| All of you with quite dogs are very lucky! Dunkin does just fine at home and hardly barks, but when we go out anywhere it's unbearable. I take him places in hopes of desensitizing him, but no luck so far. I even thought we were going to be kicked out of training class last weekend for excessive barking!! I'd say enjoy your quiet little yorkies! I hope that when Dunkin gets a little older I can slip him in a bag to come with me when i have to run errands. For now, it's impossible. |

| I would love a quiet dog. Duke used to be quiet now he barks at everything. Of course our big dog is a barker and I think she's teaching him bad habits. When he goes out to go potty he barks for no reason. Sometimes I think he just likes hearing himself.

| Congrats! Barkless Yorkies are hard to come by, lol. Although, Jackson's not what I would call a yapper by any means. He doesn't bark at other dogs or people when out in public or on walks or anything, he's very laidback and walks right beside me no matter what. The only time he barks are when someone comes in the door, he's an alerter but will stop after like 10 seconds of alert barking lol. So I guess I should consider myself lucky!

| I read somewhere that dogs don't really learn to bark until they are around 6 mths of age. That was certainly true in our case. None of them really barked before that age. So if your's is quite, then enjoy and touch wood. Between my 4, it's mahem most of the time!!

| Neither one of mine really bark either, Maddie growls though Copper makes some other funny noise too when he gets excited, but I can count on one hand how many times I have heard them actually bark. I went to a yorkie meetup recently and all the dogs there were also quiet.

| Laci is not what I consider " yappy" at all, she will bark if she hears a very strange noise or she wants her food.... but honestly for the most part she doesnt bark and she is 1 years old...

| Buster did not bark until we got Maggie when he was about 11 months old. I think she taught him to bark. She barks a lot. I think it's cute, I'm sure my neighbors don't think so, but I love to see her throw her little head back, standing on her back legs giving it all she's got. At what? Most of the time I don't know. Buster rarely barks, only when someone comes to the door, but he will get quiet after a few seconds.

| My Prissy didn't bark very much for the first year and a half of her life. One day the discovered that she could climb on the back of one of the plush chairs in the living rooms and look out the front window. OMG she got so annoying after that. If I am in the general area when she starts barking from the back of the chair then I yell at her to get down and she does. HOWEVER, she particularly LOVES to do this when I am in the BATHTUB! She not care how long or loud I yell for her to stop from the bathroom, SHE WILL NOT STOP!!!! |

| Sandy is turning 5 months old in 2 days. He's been with us for 2 months now and I've only heard him barking once! He's a very quiet little guy... I hope he stays that way. |
