Yorkie Yakker | the dumbest question ever!!!! I am freaking out!!! Yoda is 5 months. Is he possibly house trained? No accidents in a week. my last Yorkie, rest her soul, was 5 years old and still had a ton of accidents. I was told Yorkies were hard, and I found that to be true, but wow... I can't believe he is "learning" so fast!! has anyone ever had one of their Yorkies learn really fast? I've had him 3 months now!! i am SO doing a happy dance right now!!!

| Honestly I have never had trouble training any of my Yorkies. I have found them to be as smart as they are sweet. My newest doll is a Yorkiepoo and she came home at 8 weeks and was doing all her business outside. Of course there were accidents but now at 6 months she is perfect.

| They have a way of giving us a false sense of hope lol. That's great that he hasn't had an accident in a week. That means he's understanding. Sydney's vet said, though, not to trust a Yorkie until at least one-year-young. Syd has been doing well at 7 months, but she can still have accidents out of the blue. I don't know why, but it happens. Good job and good luck. I hope he's house trained. |

| Jackson is a little over 1 year old and I call him 99% housetrained. He won't have an accident for a month and then suddenly go poop in the house. I live with my parents but I have like a separate part of the house with a bedroom, living space and bathroom and he's 100% potty trained there... but when he gets to go on the other side of the house, you have to be certain he already pooped outside and doesn't have to go because he will have an accident if he hasn't gone yet. It's almost like he thinks the other side of the house is "outside" lol. He's been 100% trustworthy in the house when we leave though since he was 5 months old and has free reign. He's never had accidents, chewed or done anything wrong while we're not home.

Yorkie Talker | ziggy is my first puppy (and dog of my own actually) he is about 6 months and is completely trained now. he holds it even overnight for about a month now. i started out crate training him when i bought him home (at 3mos) & put that crate away for good a couple months ago. he lasts overnight and holds it completely until we get outside in the morning. i honestly feel like it wasnt so hard, but he did have some bad accidents and yes some false alarms, lol. But hes been one month+ now with no accidents. so as a first timer (not a dog training guru at all) i say its def. possible, and im seeing a lot about yorkies being hard to potty train but, i think mine is very smart personally - he gets it ... or wait is a couple months too soon to start dancing ..? YT 500 Club Member | Sophie is 8 1/2, and she was trained from an early age. However, I don't believe that when she poops in the house that it is an accident. The only time she is forgiven is when we have left her for several hours, and her stomach is upset. I believe that she just doesn't want to go outdoors sometimes. Especially when the grass is wet. We have one and two foot snow drifts out our back door, and she will run right out there an do her business, but one day-NO! Why most days and not another???I have no idea. She just can be a stubborn little thing.

| Potty training Remy was very easy, not at all consistent what is described to be the breeds reputation. He has never had a pee accident, at my home or any of his "sitters" Pooping accidents have occurred, but are very rare. |

YT 500 Club Member | Alfie has been clean since he was a year old, but he did have a couple of non-accidents when we changed the carpet in the living room. Rosie has had only 1 wet accident in about 6 weeks and thats probably because of all the people around over x-mas. She does however still sneak into her secret place behind the sofa to poop if we're not careful. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Congratulations!!!!!! I hope it lasts~ Mine is 8 months old. She still has accidents now and then but for the most part she is trained to puppy pads. I work during the day, so that was my only alternative. Some Yorkies just pick it up right away. My friend got one about the same time I did and she did the method of having hers sleep in the crate at night and then taking her out a couple of times before morning until she was able to last throught the night. She is totally trained now and alerts her momma during the day whenever she needs to go potty! I think consistency is the key~ You have done well!

| My first Yorkie, male, trained by 4 months to potty outside and never ever had accidents. Piper, female, was alot harder to train. If you brought her out every 30 minutes she wouldn't have accidents. When she was real young she urinated quite frequently. I was concerned and thought for sure she had an urinary infection but after all the tests the vet said she was fine. He said that she had an immature bladder and in time she would have better control. By 6 months she had better control but since she never asked to go out I would bring her out frequently. Piper is year and a half and still never asks to go out. I've come to the conclusion that she probably never will. I let her out every 2 hours and remain accident free. She has good control during the night and holds it 10 hours or so. I just wish she would learn to tell me when she has to go out during the day. My first Yorkie always asked to go out and I never had to think about when was he out last.
