| Potty Problems With 5 Month Old Little Boy Evening folks! Well I hope someone out there can shed some light on our problem. Buddy, our 5 month old Yorkie boy is the first male we've had in a long time (previous Yorkies for past 22 years have all been little girls). We've been working with Buddy and his house breaking and it seemed like he was finally getting the idea. We take him outside about every 1/2 hour to take care of his business. He goes to the door when he needs to go out. Problem is, we take him out and he may or may not pee. Then when he comes in the little rascal decides to wet on the carpet or kitchen tile. We know he has a little bladder and cannot hold too much water, but it's like he's doing it on purpose. If we have to go out, we put him in his crate. He can be there for 4 hours with no accidents at all. During the night he sleeps in bed with us and will be fine until he wakes us up to go out (at least 5 hours usually). We don't remember having this problem with our little girls and we're wondering if anyone else out there has had any experience like this. He'll be getting neutered in a month or so, maybe that will help but we don't know. Any suggestions or insight? |

| He isnt doing it on purpose he probally just doesnt know exactly what he is going outside for, when you do take him out are you giving him a SUPER GREAT treat and a huge GOOOOOOOOOOOD BOYYYYYYYYYYYYY,??? I used boiled chicken when she would go outside. Everytime she went I would say HURRY HURRY. She liked the chicken and the praise so much she would often squat and fake it just to get the chicken and the wooo hooo's!!! Give him time he is still really young it takes a good year to potty train, may I suggest a Belly Band which you can put on him right when he walks in the door to the house, this way there would be no accidents or markings. FuFu Fashions Belly Bands, Doggie diapers, Dog Diapers There are also others who make these on this site, and they do prevent them from peeing in the house !!
