| Is it to late to crate train? Joey was in the kitchen with his bed, food and pee pads. He uses the pee pads faithfully when I'm not home. He goes to the door and rings the bell when he wants out when I am home. I would like to get him fully house broken. This morning I thought I would use the crate. I put his bed in there so he would be comfy. After being gone 5 hours his bed was soaked. He sleeps through the night which is about 8-9 hours. Don't you think he could hold it during the day? He'll be 1 year old this month.

| I feel your pain... Teddy Bumpkins is JUST NOW at 13 months old able to hold his pee for 4 hours. He too peed his crate constantly. We had to take all his blankets and bedding out of the crate and downsize the size of the crate. This really helped alot. We felt bad leaving him in there but it was the only way he stopped. We had him tested for urinary infections and all that jazz but it's just who he is - a pee pee head.

| I'm about ready to rename my dog "Crap-On-The-Floor. At least people will think I have him well trained. According to my Vet it's difficult to housebreak very small dogs. Partly because of the size of their bladders, and partly because they are so small compared to the size of the house. A big dog sees the entire house as him home and won't soil it. A small dog sees most of the house as fair game. Made sense to me. |
