Puppy Pad Issue I have a 10 month old female, Sophia, who was not fully potty trained when we got her. If we ever catch her in the act of going on the carpet, we scold her and put her on the puppy pad. She seems to be getting along well and mostly goes on our walks outside or on the puppy pad inside. However, when she goes on the puppy pad, she folds it over to cover the pee spot. I've never seen her do this as she mostly does this when I'm at work or asleep, but I heard the pad rustling early morning one time and went over to investigate. The pad was folded over and she was sitting next to it. I use a puppy pad holder but she is able to pull it out. It's really difficult to scold her when I don't ever catch her in the act and I'm also afraid that if I do scold her, I might discourage her from going on the pad. Any suggestions?

Hi If she go's on the rug and you dont catch her doing it then maybe scolding her after the fact wont work. That is what I have heard.Just clean it up and ignore it and only give the good attention and maybe a treat for going where you want her to go. I am not sure why she is covering it up but I have heard of that before.

We only scold her when we catch her in the act. She has steadily been getting better about going on the pad. It's the folding over of the pad that I have trouble catching her doing since she mostly does this while we are at work or asleep. I don't want to scold her about it when I find it later, so I am at a loss as to what to do now.

I have one dog that scratches the ground or pee pad when ever she pees. Just a dog thing.
