| bell method help Auti has been doing so good with using the bathroom in the house, she goes in the xpen lined with wee wee pads and her crate which she only uses whn its bed time. well she gets her last shot tomorrow and i want to try and get her to go outside. Since last weekend i purchased a bell and been dinging it everytime we go out but not for potty breaks more for going places like my moms or rides since i dnt want her out until the shots are complete. Well does anyone think this will confuse her if i start ringing it for outside potty time. i want her to learn the bell method so she can let me know when it's time to go. i took her out twice in an un"dog"populated area and she did wonders on pottying outside. Just wondering I'm still new to this and all and any feed back is welcomed. P.S she only had one accident in the house and thats because my mother didnt knw how to open the xpen but i truly think she rather go outside cause the couple times i let her out she was so excited to use the bathroom outside..

| She won't get confused. Just start ringing the bell only when you take her out to potty, and take her out the same door every time. After a week or so of doing this, teach her to paw/ or nose the bell (not sure which one you are using?) and treat every time she even touches it, then say "potty" (or whatever your keyword/phrase will be for her) and go out and praise praise praise and reward as soon as she is done pottying outside. Patient and consistent and she will be doing it on her own in no time

| Bell Training I trained my guy with a tap bell like bell hops use. He is a year old and it only took him about a week to get it. When we think he might have to go potty and he has not yet rung the bell we tell him to ring the bell and then take him out. |
