| I can't get Bailey to walk on a leash! I've been trying to walk Bailey on a leash but he refuses to walk, I have to drag him almost to get him to move. All he wants to do is run around in the yard, he hates being constrained. I'm sure people must think I'm torturing the little guy when I try to take him out walking, I end up picking him up and carrying him in my arms Anyone else have this problem?

| Did you see Victoria (It's Me or the Dog) last night? She worked with a little Pom on this problem. What a cutie he was!

| Put the leash on him inside and let him drag it around so he can get used to the feeling of the leash on. Then encourage him to walk with treats

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My Pixie would not walk on a leash. She would just flatten out on the ground. Just recently my dtr discovered that if we let go of the leash and let her walk by herself she walks fine. I stay right next to her so I can grab the leash or her. Just keep trying.

| Tinky had/still kind of does have the same problem. She LOVES the grass and used to only walk on it. Apparently, the sidewalk was too scary for her. After so many failed attempts, she would finally walk on some sidewalk, freeze, walk again, freeze, walk again and so on. It was so tiring but I think she's getting used to it. Just keep on trying and teach her that walking is a pleasant thing. Give her extra attention if she walks normally and give her a bunch of treats. I even take Tinky's favorite toy out to encourage her to walk

| Make sure you use a harness, but I would let him run around the house with the leash to get him used to it. To go walking I would take him out for a short walk to the car or mailbox and then back to the house- once he learns that he can go out with the leash he should like it. Try bribing him with treats too! You want to associate good things with the leash- he'll get the hang of it! Good luck!

| I don't know how leash averse he is and how long you've been trying to get him to walk with one But everyone is right start out with just having him wear the leash around the house to get him used to the feel of it Victoria's show woth the Pom was great and you can see the episodes in full at the Animal Planet website

Isn't it amazing how dogs help other dogs? They really learn from each other (good & bad!)
