| Ben hates his little sister & she wont use the pee pads I lost my yorkie that I had for 13 years ago in May. She had 1 litter of puppies (1 passed away, gave 1 to a close family friend and we kept 2). Chloe passed in January 07 and Ben is still here. I got Millicent (Millie) on Saturday. She is 7 weeks and a ball of energy with a great personality! My problem is that Ben (who is 9 yrs old) wants nothing to do with Millie! Will they ever get along?? Has anyone else had this problem? Also, Millie doesnt always go on the pee pads. Does anyone have any good potty training tips that they can share? It's been so long since I've had a puppy, I dont remember how to do this! Thanks for your help! |

| With the potty pad if she makes a mistake anywhere pick it up with the potty pad and show her that this is your potty spot and be consistent.Yorkies have a smaller bladder and it is hard to potty train them but I think if you are consistent you will be sucessful. As far as Ben just give it a while I had that same experience before with a 4 week old boxer rescue and my other two dogs and now they have established their ranks in the pack and everything is a-ok. Good Luck Last edited by MrsConner_07; 07-22-2009 at 11:14 PM. |

| Ah ..... your older Yorkie isn't too happy about this new little interloper who's stealing his thunder Try to include him in games and playing with the new puppy When ever the new puppy is around it's a good idea to give him a treat so he gets used to the idea that whenever this new little thing is around I get good things

| Thanks for the advice! I never thought of either. When I got Sadie, my roommate had a maltese the same age, so it wasnt a problem. Here is my next question: she wants to eat EVERYTHING!! I know she's teething. Is there anything that I can give her? I gave her a baby binky and she seems to like that. I saw some dog toys that you put in the freezer for teething, but I'm scared to give them to her because they say "Made in China". I think Chloe had some of the bad dog food that killed so many dogs (she got sick and was gone within 2 days). Thanks for the suggestions! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome. I am sorry to hear of your loss. Evert time I get a puppy I forget how hard it is in the beginning. The main thing with potty training is to watch them every second when they are out and soon you will recognize when she starts to look for a place to pee. For teething/chewing I would get a washcloth wet and put it in the freezer and once it was frozen I would let them chew on it. I bet in a couple of weeks they will be best buddies. Just give Ben extra attention.
