diapers yorkies Just thought I'd share a little info with ya'll. I've had my 2 Yorkies for 3 yrs. this month. My female is about 5 lbs and my male is 3 lbs. (finally! They have been litterbox trained in their crate since they were 7 months old. However, if I take the litterbox out and put it somewhere else they will go on the floor or wherever. If I take them outside they will do their business immediately and come inside where Monkey will proceed to potty again! I have come to the conclusion that he is not trainable and so I am resorting to diapers for this winter. Summer is ok because they can have the patio to play on but in the winter it's a different story. I live in TN. He doesn't have loads of hair so can't stay outside long. I've had many trained dogs over the years (I'm 61) but Monkey is definitely my failure. I don't let my dogs stay in their crates for hours so I think the diapers are the way to go for me this winter. I have tried the ones sold at Wal Mart and they don't work. They aren't form fitting and don't fit snuggly.
I've found some that I really like on line. The lady (Dana) has worked with me to get the proper fit for him (many emails, phone calls, diagrams of what and where to measure, and she has requested pictures of the diaper on him so she can see if it will work.) There is mucho padding, velcro (good quality) to hold the diaper, something like elastic around the legs, a spot for a cutout of the tail, and suspenders that start under the belly and come up and over the dogs back to the top of the diaper. There are two velcro ties that go on the chest and back of the neck to keep them where they belong and to keep the diaper from slipping down. Will I use it everyday? No. But just having them around and being able to let him down to play with his sister has been wonderful. I'll get lots of use out of them this winter. They are quality made. 301-807-1050 That's her phone number if you would like to talk to her. She lives in Maryland. |
