| The barking..does it stop Hello eveyone! I am a newbie here. I currently have a pug named Guinness, almost 2 and got Yates our Yorkie about a month ago. One week after, I found out that me and my husband are having a baby! A little crazy in the house at the moment but wouldnt trade any of it for the world. So, I know I am going to be part of the problem here.....Yates is left in a pen during the day while I am at work. It has a pee pee paid in it and he uses it. When I am home, he goes on the pad or I take him outside every so often. No issues too bad...Here's the issue...at night. Yates will bark if he isnt out of his crate or pen. This got annoying and since I am tired all the time (prego) I didnt want to deal with it. Well, my cute little Yates thinks its cute to pee and poo in every single one of my 4 bedrooms during the night. (thank goodness for hardwood). The vet yesterday asked how we were doing with the training. My husband told her what I just explained. Vet said no good! Crate yates at night or put him in the pen. Know what time Yates work up this morning? 3am. He barked until 5:30 when my husband finally had to get up for work. He took him out and let me stay out the rest of the morning. (he peed in one of my rooms) Now what? I don't want him to think that if he barks for 2.5 hours that DH will let him out? He just happens to get up for work at that time. What do I do? How long will this all night barking last? Please, anythign you can tell me is appreciated. Thank you |

| Wow, sounds like you have a lot going on! I would agree with your vet and say that you must confine your puppy at night. Your pup is showing you that he can't be trusted and needs to be confined to a smaller space. We actually still keep all of our bedroom & bathroom doors closed if we're home and not really watching the dogs (our yorkies are 8 months old). I would say that they're potty trained since they haven't messed in the house in over 2 months, but I still want to know where they're at when they are loose in the house when I'm home, so we keep all of the doors shut in our house & the pups can go in & out of all the main rooms. If we're not at home, they are in their puppy play room. I would suggest maybe putting him in an xpen with a pee pad, that way if he has to go, he will, and you will hopefully get some rest. These guys have little bladders, so if they have to go...well, they need to go. My pups are 8 months old, and we crate trained them and now they have a "puppy play pen" (I don't call it an xpen because it's homemade!). They've never used pee pads though, they just chewed them up & peed beside them, so those didn't work for me! If I have to get up to let them out, they go out and then RIGHT back to their puppy room. I also know people that have fenced yards who have installed a doggy door so the dog can let himself in & out as needed and they can sleep peacefully. Good luck with finding some peace and quiet

| Been done by a freind a few night in the kennel in the car in the garage make sure it is not hot and you do not hear him and he can not hear you and he gets over himself. He barks his fool head off and relizes that you are not coming to let him out and he is just fine. Not sure I would work it that way but when one is running on little sleep and the dog has been taught to bark his way out then it maybe the only choice. JL

BANNED FOR NOT SENDING A GIFT EXCHANGE GIFT! | I also agree with your vet. Denzel use to scrape the paint on the walls and tear my carpet and i cant tell you how many cell phone chargers i have had to replace. And i cant tell you how many times denzel would look me in the face and pee pee on my carpet knowing what he was doing. But he would do this when i went to sleep. I wreck my brain over this even made a post and although everyone was helpful. But i soon discovered what the problem was when i started taking him out for longer walks or letting him sit on my bed next to me his bad behavior stopped. So i guess the point im making is maybe your baby is trying to tell you he wants more attention. I give denzel all my attention and i no longer have this problem he knows hes number one. |
