| Goes CRAAAAAZY at PETCO! Uni is really well trained, BUT when we go to Petco.... oh boy! I don't know if it's all the doggy smells or what, but we get out of the car and she goes crazy! She cries like there's no tomorrow (and LOUD), she HAS to say hi to EVERYONE, smell EVERYTHING, frankly it's embarrassing! She pulls and tries to run when we have her on the harness. it looks like she swimming in place! Most of the time we take her behind the store first (where the trucks do deliveries) and have her do some laps before we go in to tire her out a bit! That usually works, but what can I do to correct her excitement in the first place? (I am getting a front D ring harness for the pulling) Last halloween we wanted to enter her in the costume contest (I make costumes) but she was so crazy we had to leave b/c there were so many other pups there. I couldn't even say Hi to my client!

I think doing laps is a great idea. Other than that, she just sounds really excited. If you REALLY want to go to the trouble, I would suggest habituating her to it. Take her to PetCo more frequently, and take her to other places with lots of dogs, people, and bright lights.

| ........ Shelby & Seymour get excited as soon as they see a SIGN that says Petsmart!! LOL! I think it is kind of the same feeling we used to get as kids when we went to an amusement park......... can you blame them?

| Chachi goes crazy when we go in those type of places also. He also marks there so I have to put a bellyband on him

| Rory does this when we approach her doggie daycare. You'd think since she goes EVERY DAY, Monday to Friday, some of her excitement would have leveled off since she has been going for over a year now. Lane will usually let out a bark or two, but I think it is more in response to Rory's excitement than because she has a real clue what is going on.
