| Help with pee pad training Can anyone tell me what I can do, my yorkie is 1 yr old and she pees on the pee pads sometimes and then she will pee on the floor next to it. I can't figure it out, I thought maybe she didn't like to pee on the pad if it was dirty, but then she will pee on the floor sometimes when the pad is clean. Does anyone have this same problem? |

| 5 inside dogs, all pee pad trained, it just happens. Most likely she thinks she is on it, or maybe has her front paws on it. I have it go under the pad quite a lot, which if the pad is still clean, I just wipe the bottom of the pad off and leave it down until it needs changed. Be glad she's peeing close to it and not on the carpet. For some reason, mine always use the pee pad during the day, and at night, the family room berber carpet becomes a giant pee pad. I will be so glad when I can afford to pull this nasty carpet up |

| If you find something to place around the pad, like a pad holder or something they have to step into it really helps. Before Lola would miss the pad a lot, then I started using the holder and no more accident on the floor. Hope this helps!

| I've seen Chloe miss the pad with all four feet squarely on the pad. |

| I had a pee pad holder, I gave it away, I had a ugodog and gave it away. The problem with these things, is they sometimes will not step up on them and will go next to them, which causes the pee to run underneath, talk about nightmares. I had it with both of those things. Or they get up on them and still get too close to the edges and you end up with a mess. To me, they were just a waste of money. |

| Oh I have the perfect solution! Go to walmart and get a CAT litter pan, they are like $3. Fold the pad in half and place it inside. It fits perfectly and the sides of the walls are low. That way furbaby will have to step into the little pan and even if they do miss the pad the pan will catch the pee and the folded underside of the pad will soak it up. At first I bought an expensive dog litter pan at petsmart it was $20! Since I bring Uni to work with me, I needed one at work, one at home, so the walmart one is great!

| Pee-Pad Training I am also so frustrated. my 3 yr old yorkie, jack , was pee-pad trained from the start, along with his sister, who is 2. Gussy understood right away and NEVER has an accident. Jack knows where he is suppose to go and will go months being perfect, and then start peeing next to the pad or a few feet away (he's been on the "bad pee" binge for about 3 weeks now. Pees perfect a few times a day and pees on the floor a few times too. I can tell he knows he is wrong. Im at my wits end here. He is very sweet and sensitive and KNOWS what he is suppose to do .... i dont have a clue how to fix this! Id even hire a profesional to come in and help if i knew where to turn! any ideas? |

| My female, Yorkie, didn't take any time to train. When she missed the pad, I just showed the poop to her and took her to the pad.

| from what you said and i see, females are easier to train. my female also got the idea right away. took less then a week and all was good. i dont know what to do with the male. im frustrated. currently im putting him back in a pen with a pee pad, when he is bad, until he goes on it. but wondering if maybe i should be putting the pad where he wants to go, and then slowely move it to where i want it. ive got one hallway that he wants go pee in, even tho ive got a pee pad 5 feet away. ugggggggg....... |

| Litter Pan I agree with Captain Noonie. I too started placing the wee wee pad inside a litter pan. She took to it right away and it alleviated the problem of missing the pad. |

| i really appreciate the help! Ill try anything. I will say that I took some other advise and decided that maybe jack just didnt like where i had the pee-pad. so i moved it to where he wanted to go (ok - so its in the middle of a hallway..... luckly we dont have too much company that doesnt understand animals)! since moving it to the spot jack "picked" i have not had any problems. Hopefully i wont be stuck with a pee-pad in the middle of tha hall forever, but at least its better then pee! Thanks for all the help! |

| I want PeePads, Veruca wants the grass outside, HELP Hi everyone, This is my first real post. My 8 month old puppy Veruca Salt won't use a pee pad. I tried using the spray and the drops and switching pad brands. She loved the spray and rolled on the pad (not my desired response!) Sometimes she lays down on the pad and I have to stand her back up. She knows the potty command but she only likes to go outside in the grass. And she hates when the grass is wet or bad weather. Unfortunately, I live in a condo and am away much of the day. Right now she has a dog walker coming at lunch time, but sometimes she still has an accident in the house even with the pad available to her. I'm not sure how to train an outdoor pottying dog on an indoor pad. Can someone help. I tried lots of praise and treats and standing her on the pad in 20 min intervals. Thanks! Wendy |
