I wish I could help you, but unfortunately I have two Yorkies, one is 10 yrs old an the other is 8 yrs old and neither one of them have been fully housebroken. I still find "surprises" around the house. Good Luck.

What have you tried so far? The key really is to 1) confine to a small space, 2) watch like a hawk, and 3) reward lavishly when the dog does the right thing. We started Buster on crate training, and he learned to use potty pads within a couple of months, and I'd say he was about 3/4 potty trained. For every three he'd get right, he'd have one accident We mistakenly gave him free run of the house while we were home, and he went potty pretty often in a few particular rooms (mainly the ones where we spent the least amount of time). Since then, we've blocked off the majority of the house from him except for the rooms where we are the most. Now, he's about 95% potty trained. He's about 14 months old. The key really is to expand their space according to their housebreaking success. That is, once the dog is almost perfect in a crate or expen, they can have a room. Once he's perfect in that room, maybe two rooms. Then, maybe a whole floor. You get the idea. Good luck!

Thor's Human Donating Member | Welcome, LOVEYORKIE! Hansch99 has given you very good advice. By the way, I'd say 90% of the threads in this forum are about potty training, so if you browse some of them, you'll learn way more about this topic than you ever wanted to know. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

I have a ten month old yorkie named Paris and we are using bells. With Paris, her problem was that she didnt know how to ask to go out, but she would always leave presents by the back door. Once I trained her to use the bells to ask to go outside it got much better. I bought my bells from Pet Land.

these are the bells I have Tell Bell - Kelston Products The nice part about these bells is that you can take your dog to a friends house, put the bell down and they will know its for when they need to go out. That way they are trained for every location.

Bells Wow What a concept... I think we may have to try that. Mia is only 4 months. She goes potty (pee) on a pee pad but it's hit and miss with the other. I was thinking of using a cat box with a lid. Has anyone ever done this before? I also put baking soda on the area that she pottied on, I leave it for about 15 minutes then vacuum and it seems to soak up the smell.
