| Eating Poop-His own and the cats! Ok, so I know that there are threads on here about yorkies eating their own poop and I've tried the pineapple thing but Gizmo won't eat the pineapples. Every now and then I'll catch him flinging his poop around and eating it. Now he is also going into the cats litter box, taking pieces of poop out and eating it! Why does he like eating poop?! And how can I get him to stop? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Cat poop is a delicacy to dogs because of all the undigested nutrients. Most people have found that they need to put the cat box up high where the cats can jump, but puppy can't get to. Pineapple is effective because it contains Bromelain and enzyme that helps digest the protein, so that the poop has no undigested protein making it less attractive to dogs. Meat tenderizers do the same thing, which is to predigest the protein. However, if using one of these find one without added salt or the unseasoned variety, which might prove difficult. There are a few commercial products available such as Forbid, but very few people have reported success with these. Pineapple seems to be the most successful. Some people have recommended adding a teaspoon of pumpkin, and I'm not sure how it works, but there have been several reports of success. Some people have also reported success with switching to a dog food with easier to digest protein. Stopping Dogs From Eating Poop
