| Barking....ah My ten week old baby always barks even when i leave him alone for a few minutes... I bought a gate to put at the end of our hallway so he has my room and the hallway to roam free in. Someone is usually home during the day to take care of him when im gone but i know it wont always be that way. any advise to stop the barking? |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Mine TOO!!! My baby girl does the exact same thing. She's about the same age as yours too (born November 19th). It's more of a cross between crying and barking, more of a cry though. She usually does it for about 10 minutes or a little more then just gives up once she knows I'm NOT coming back. I'm no expert, but this is what I do... If she does start to bark or cry, I NEVER go back to her to console her. I think in a sense they are just like human babies where if you pick them up every time they cry, they will learn that that's a way to get your attention and they will then cry every time they want picked up or need your attention. It's SOOO hard to hear my Lexi bark and especially cry when she is alone. But I HAVE TO let her. I don't want to teach her to bark or cry every time she wants something. I don't want to spoil her.

| When my parents first got their chihuahua/miniature pinscher named Kimchee, she was barking/crying through the night like there was no tomorrow. My mom got up and put a blanket over her and Kimchee fell asleep quickly afterwards. Now Kimchee never sleeps without her blankie :P

| My little George is fine (after a couple of whimpers)as long as he has a blanket or something to snuggle in and we are not in the room, my husband always wants to let him out of his cage at night so he is having lessons too. |
