| Waking up at 5:00 a.m. or earlier every morning. Help!!! Lily is fine until 4:30 - 5:00 and then she thinks it's time for everyone to get up. She climbs on top of my husband and cries. When he puts her back on her blanket she starts whining and comes to me. I usually get up and take her to her pee pee pad and then try to get her to go back to sleep. She goes through the same process again wanting us to get up. I have tried crating her when she won't settle down (4 mornings now) and all she does is cry and scratch at her crate. What should I do?

Donating YT 30K Club Member | How old is she? Mine are early risers too. You could try keeping a little treat by your bedside and giving it to her when she wakes up and tell her to settle back down. I think they all have their own internal clocks.

| Bailey, too!! I just say with a stern voice "no" and push her back down. It only took a few times. Now she waits patiently for the alarm clock - and then watch out! Its like Christmas every morning for Bailey!!

| LOL mine are lazy they all sleep late. They usually wake up about 9 am on weekends. On weekdays I have to take them out @ 6:30 am before I go to work and I have a very hard time with them. They hide under their blankies and won't come out because they're sleepy

| My two do it because they are hungry. They like to wake up early to poop if they don't go the right before too, but 9 out of 10 times they go right to their food bowls at dawn and start flipping them over and kicking them across the room rather than going over and standing by the door, which is why I know their tummies and not their bladders are waking them up I've started feeding them later in the day and giving them 1/2 meal for lunch and that seems to help. We've gone from 5am to 6:30, which is much better. I try to not feed them before 7 because then they want "dinner" at 2:00 so if they dance on my head at 5am I take them out to pee and give them a decent sized cookie and we all go back to bed for an hour or two. Once they get a potty break and a cookie they seem content to snuggle back in.

| Early riser I know Lily just wants to play because she runs straight to her toys. She sleeps with one of them because I thought that would keep her quiet in the a.m., but it doesn't. She just sounds like she's tearing it up!! I took her for a longer than usual walk today hoping that might work off some energy. I might try giving her a cookie or treat and see if that will work.

| I get the wake up call anywhere between 4:30-5:45 and I take him out to go to the bathroom. When I put him into his crate he cries and whines until I get up. He is not allowed on the furniture or in the bedrooms so I just lay down on the living room floor and we both go back to sleep for a few hours. Of course I can only do this on the weekends. I love our snuggle time we both sleep so well!! |

| My furbaby used to wake me up early when she was younger, sometimes 3 or 4am! Now that she's older, as long as I take her out around 11pm to go potty, she's good for the night and won't wake up until usually around 7 or 8am, sometimes later! |

| I wish my Lilly would sleep all the way through til 5:30 or 6:00am. I put her to bed around 9 or 10pm depending how tired I am, and I set my alarm for potty for 4 hours from that but she usually whimper prior to that, so I am up again at 1:00am or 2:00am but tonight is a late night for both so 2:30am or 3...then again at 6:00am then she will graciously let me sleep to 7am then it is breakfast and play.

| Dogs are Absolute creatures of habit They will get on a schedule and that will be what they go by until you come in and change it If you want to have her sleep later maybe keep her up and hour or two later walk her later in the evening maybe she will sleep longer for you if she doesn't have to hold it as long But being firm with her is also important when crateing if she's put in her crate there's no if and's or buts and no words given it's sleep time and that's it
