| Not pooping on pad! Hello everyone! I am having trouble training Zoey. She is only 10 wks so I know that I still have a lot of training ahead of me but I want to make sure I curb her habit before it becomes a lasting problem. She almost always pee's on her pad, but she NEVER poops on it! I have tried leaving a piece of her poop on the pad.. But she just sniffs it and walks across the room and poops there. In the last 3 weeks that I have had her I can only remember of 3 times that she pooped on the pad! I will even pic her up in the process of her eliminating waste and place her on the pad.. But she just isnt associating the two... Does anyone have suggestions?

| It might possibly be a little early for her to learn to poop on there? I think just keep at it and keep trying to get her to, remember to try to reward her when she pees on the pad and hopefully she can associate pee and poop on the pad one day. Good luck! |

| We had a really hard time trying to train chloe to use a pee pad. I would literally follow her around with it so I could stick it under her when I knew she had to go so I could praise her when she was done, but she would run from me. I finally gave up and taught her to go potty outside with the other dogs. Its funny because my other dogs who are completely potty trained, would be the ones that would end up using the pads. But CHloe never ever pooped on it. I am not sure why they dont like it. Maybe they dont like pooping inthe same place where they pee.

| I think so too..I actually had a hard time with my Roxy. You could try to get those litter pans at Petsmart, cut the puppy pad in half and put it in the pan. I've tried the Second Nature Doggie Litter and don't recommend it. Anyway...I bought two of those litter pans...and I have them facing each other so she pees in one and poops in the other. I would suggest you get an exercise pen if you don't already have one and put the litter pans with puppy pads in there. I would put Roxy in there and she'd quickly do her business because she knew as soon as she did, she would get to come out. Let me know your progress. I'll help anyway I can. |

| The 3 times she pooped on the pad, was it a clean pad? I am curious b/c Shelby went through that and I noticed she wouldn't poop in the vicinity of her pee area. For a while I put down a new, clean pad right next to the used one when I thought she was due to poop. She makes it pretty obvious now that she isn't happy b/c her potty space is too limited. Spins in circles and scratches at the pee. I put out a clean one and she does her business. 10 weeks *is* very young but it sounds like she is doing a good job! |

| I too have a young one, a year old. And when he was younger I had no problem getting him to use the pad when he had to do his buisness. I thought that he was completly house broken. And didn't have to use the pads anymore. Now that we are in a house instead of an apt. it seems he will only potty outside. I have to pick up "Jesse Nuggets" in the morning, and when I get home everytime I leave. It dosent' matter if it is 15 minutes to the store or 12 hours. He always leaves me a surprise. And on dark green carpet sometimes it is hard to see. I have picked it up and thrown it outside for him to smell and see it next time we are out but it dosent' do anygood. So for now I am just flushing it. Is there something that I can do or try to eliminate him from doing this all the time? Danielle Momma to Jesse James the holy terror |

| i know this all to well....... when we first got lucky he was 8 weeks and we pad trained him right away. within 2 weeks he had the peepee thing down but the poop took a little longer . for whatever reason he had the habit of pooping next to the pad but would never poop on the pad ( very frustrating right?) well with a little patience ( about 1 1/2 to 2 months worth) and lots of praises one day he pooped on the pad and i praised him to death even made up a silly song and dance but it worked. then twice on the pad and so on. he did have a few accident next to the pad of course but with time that all stopped . now he mostly poops outside in one spot but if hes in the house and i dont get to him in time he poops on the pad . i cant remember the last time he had a poop accident . lol now were working on the peepee accidents. it doesnt happen to often but ive allowed him more freedom in the house so far hes had about 2 or 3 peepee accidents.....but he's learning. guess he has to get use to being away from the pad and learning to go find it when he has to do his business when hes in another part of the house........

| Sango doesn't seem to like to poo on the same place where she pees also. So when I see her do the lil' I have to poo/pee sniff & spin dance & plop her on her pad.

| My dog is the same way the pad he pees usually on it but when he poops its like a little further away..its not that far away but he never poops on the pad and its funny how he poops because he poops once and then takes few steps and poops some more so ihe doesnt just stand still in one spot..its tough! |

| I am so glad to know that im not the only one dealing with this......Gidget will be a year this month and she still will not ppoop on the pad. She is totaly trained to pee on it and always does (unless she is SUPPER happy to see "daddy" when he gets home from work....sometime we have excitement drizzle in the kitchen) But she will NOT poop on the pad....she always poops in the same spot But she wont do it on the pad ...the only thing I can say is it is behind a chair...maybe she likes privacy? |
